Removed the front six-pack this weekend to install the re-build kit obtained from Tom and have a couple questions.
All have what appears to be lubricant inside. Not sure of the purpose. Should I clean up with brake cleaner and re-lube using silicone paste or other lube?
There is corrosion at the bottom of all but one of the solenoids and the washers are stuck inside the solenoid housing on all but the one without corrosion. Should I be concerned, or just clean them up and re-install?
Clean them up best you can without damaging or scratching any of the sealing surfaces.
Only apply lube to the O-rings and then just a light coating. I recommend Super Lube. You can get it at Lowes/Home Depot.

I would knock the washers out of the covers and clean off all the corrosion. The washers are simply used as spacers.

thin layer of lubricant is applied to the o-rings so that when you tighten things down, the o-ring surface doesn't drag on the metal and tear. Without it, the friction when tightening can damage or distort the o-ring.
LIGHTLY with any lube.
Thanks everyone. Original assembler must thought more was better, because all of them have quite of bit of lubricant in them. I will clean them all up and lightly lube just the o-rings.
Finished rebuilding the front six pack and want to give a huge shout out to Chuck for posting a complete parts list (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=27491.msg225369#msg225369)in his Working on my Six Pack post. b^.^d Having the part numbers and a source for the o-rings makes the job much easier. Without his well documented post, I would have overlooked the check valve plungers. Needless to say, my rebuild does not look shiny and new like his.
Tom's kit is great, but does not include the square cut o-rings or the ones needed for the check valves and associated retaining plugs. Perhaps not needed, but wanted to go back with the square cut and replace the check valve o-rings while I had it out. Ordered Tue from The Oring Store source Chuck posted and they arrived a day later. Great prices and reasonable shipping....especially for two day air delivery that was only $1.00 more that USPS shipping. Min order was 100, so I have lots of extras now. :)
Still have to re-install, but hoping this takes care of the overnight leak-down of the left front side. The leak was not excessive, but this was a good time to do the work.
