I replaced my two 6 year old Toyo 295/75R-22.5/16 M154 with a new set, and noticed a very strange wear pattern. Pictures attached.
I know nothing about large tires, but I know there are experts in the Forum.

Look up "Rivering".
There's some very unusual wear across the face - not the typical ripple-edge, plus it sounds like these are very new tires. Might it be something else?
Klaus - here's a Michelin document showing various examples - do any match it?

(based on the second photo in your post, where the second from left rib is lower than the rest, it almost looks like "depression wear, intermediate")
ETA (Edited to add) - Klaus, to avoid confusion, are these photos of your new steer tires after just a short time or are they the 6 year old take-offs?
Too much toe in . And a little over pressure. Maybe
I had something similar happen to my front Michelin tires near the end of their life. They just went out of balance rather suddenly on one trip of about 1200 miles. I did notice the out of balance while driving. I could not find any evidence of a lost balance weight. I installed centramatic balancers, which helped some, but didn't completely smooth out the ride. I replaced the tires to solve the problem since they were getting old. The toe in was okay.
