Title: SeeLevel Tank Monitoring System
Post by: WagonWheels on February 04, 2021, 01:59:17 pm
My Javelina (JVC) tank monitoring system is in the toaster.  Time to replace.  Looks like the go to replacement is the SeeLevel system.  I presume access to the black and gray tanks is located behind panels in the manifold/water pump bay.  I tried a couple of years ago to remove the shelving above the water pump, but was unsuccessful.  Looks like this would have to be done in order to place the tank sending units on the fresh water tank.  On the other hand guess I could take the panels off in the plumbing bay which would be a goat rope. I presume one could repurpose the current wiring from the tanks (B/G/F/P) and the batteries to connect the new system with the sending units as long as one places the monitor in the same vicinity as the current JVC?  I have a 2003 38ft U320 tag with private bath. Any help and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get at the flat vertical ends of the tanks.  In your photos it looks like this means the manifold/water pump bay ends.  The other ends of the tanks are probably sloped, and would not work well with the SeeLevel sensor strips.

The shelves over the water pump were screwed together by someone at the FOT factory.  You should be able to figure out how to remove them.  Look for hidden screws under the gray carpet material.  In order to properly install two strips on each tank, you must have free access to the entire vertical tank surface.

Yes - you can repurpose the existing Audit wiring.  Pay attention to the wiring instructions concerning the ground wires for the sensors.  They and the display panel are all supposed to be connected to a common ground point.

See the discussion in a concurrent thread for more info:

The first photo is from a 97 but your black and gray tank location is probably similar. The second photo is from a 99 320. You can see the water tank in the background as well as the Aqua Hot heat exchanger. The arrows point to the screws that hold on that shelving. If yours is like the 99 they are just Robertson screws screwed into some light angle metal. In the photo I had removed the back vertical one. If you don't see the screws, as Chuck indicated, you might need to peel up the carpeting. It's just sticky tacked to the wood shelving.

Your water tank is a LOT easier to get at than the non-Aqua Hot models.

Remove the screws holding the cover panels and shelves in place, put all the screws in some small container and put it into your spare parts bin.  Get some 3/4" wide velcro on a roll.  Fuzzy side goes on the brackets, hook side on the parts you remove.  Add staples on the wood parts if you need to.  It doesn't need to go the full length either.  3-4 inches at each end is plenty.  Next time you have to take it apart you will be glad you did it.

You can reuse the old wiring if you want but it only makes sense if you are putting the display where all of the old wiring goes. Think through where the display is going to be located so that it is easy to see and read.  You have to press a button to enable the display and if you are adding a second display on the other side of the wet bay wires need to go there too.

You should be able to do all three tanks right at that end of the wet bay.  It is 0% at the bottom of the strip and 100% at the top. Vertical or sloped it makes no difference, it is all relative.
