Hello,
I'm unfortunate enough to be trying to get my leveling systems control box serviced and having to deal with HWH. I have been trying to contact their customer support group for three weeks now both by phone and e-mail with no luck. They answer my call and tell me their very busy and will get to me when they can. We have a trip planned mid March and I'm afraid we'll need to cancel as the coach is un-drivable. So, I come here to vent and ask for advice. Does anyone else service these older units? Is there a contact at HWH I should ask for?
Here's Some background on my problem. When the coach is aired up it goes into travel mode but will not level. Last year we had issues where we would get and Excessive Slope warning on nearly level ground. This was an intermittent problem and now it won't level at all. From what I can gather the trouble shooting guide for HWH points at the control box as the issue. I checked all of the fuses, unhooked all of the plugs and re-plugged them with no change. Any ideas?
I just shipped them the box when I couldn't get a call back for a tech. By the time a tech called the box had been repaired and was back in my coach. My thought was if it wasn't broke they would return it and if it was broke they would fix it.
You might try this worked for me call and ask for Ashley Burke, 800- 321-3494 she will get back with you with An RGA #. It does take a while to get the control box repaired.
Thanks. I'll try that this afternoon. Much appreciated!
When I had questions they told me it would take 4 weeks to call me back. It took 5, but by the time they had gotten back to me I had already figured out my problem.
Are you able to manual level? If so you could remove the travel fuse and then manual level before you take off for the day and then manual level at night.
I had the same problem with the coach not leveling and HWH not calling back in November. In the meantime, I was at MOT and they replaced the board (about $300 for the board), which fixed the problem. MOT had the board on hand, so you might try calling them to see if they can help you over the phone and ship the board to you. HWH did finally call back, about two months after I had the problem fixed at MOT.

If MOT doesn't have one you might also try FOT.
At one point I had MOT outfit my coach with a new control box which turned out to be defective. Their purchasing guy disappeared for a while and returned with another box that worked. The only place I can imagine that the second box came from is FOT.
Question:
If the OP were to remove his HWH box and leave the 6 packs dead, does it default to travel mode?
If so, he could ship the box and if it doesn't return in time he could go on his trip and level the old fashioned way with blocks. He would still need air while camped but could add it any number of ways.
If it is going into level mode but does not level this is performed by ride height valves being aired by travel solenoids.
As Bruce says calling Ashley Burke, 800- 321-3494 she will get back with you with An RGA #. It does take a while to get the control box repaired.
This is exactly what I did but I had a failed box. I shipped in November and just last week received back from them.
If your travel solenoids are powering up they are getting the signal needed from the box, just mechanically failing ride height valve is not compensating.

John no. It need signal for six pack
So there is basically no signal when shut off and you can manually set height and travel till leaks require resetting. The travel solenoids are powered up during normal use and air goes thru ride height valve. Raise solenoids raise, lower solenoids lower.

Just out of curiosity - have you accidentally dislodged the level sensor?
On a coach of that era, I would suspect the puck-style mercury switch device under the sofa or kitchen cabinet stack, not the "paddle circuit card" of a 2002-ish or newer.
I hadn't thought of that. I tried manually leveling but nothing happened. So, removing the travel fuse would permit the coach to be manually leveled?
Given how long its taking them to get back to me I'm tempted just to re-install the box and run in travel mode. The places were staying have level concrete pads.
I don't believe I dislodged the sensor. I would have to go look and see if I could find it.
