Have 2000 U320. Have need to replace existing Sharp unit, any ideas to remove the old and replace. Thanks
Microwave replacement (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=24457.msg191462#msg191462)
I pulled my R-1850A out only to find that many of the newer convection ovens available at Home Depot have their top-mounted vent further towards the back wall and it therefor did not line up with the exhaust hole in the overhead cabinet. I currently have an open support case with Sharpe asking if the R1881LSY is a direct fit and will report back when I find out.
Don, here is our microwave change out with photos:

Microwave: Replacing R-1830B Microwave with R1875-T
The Sharp Model R-1881LSY is a direct fit replacement. You can even use your existing mounting plate if you choose. Just look closely in the top venting strips as there are a couple of hidden screws going into the cabinet above. It is a relatively easy swap. This model is good because it also has the offset door.
A side view.
Mark, do you remember what model you had in their previously? My R-1850A is pictured in the attached image but the units I've been looking at seem to have their top vents located where I've indicated with red.
I currently have my OEM Sharp R-1851A installed and a new Sharp R-1874 sitting in it's box in the coach. Unfortunately, it is 16 degrees and snowing here. I expect I will be able to get things inside the coach warmed up early next week and attempt the install.
I will plan to post pictures and notes when I do.
The installation instructions I found online for the R-1874 Sharp R1874 | R-1870 , R- 1871 , R-1872 , R-1874 Installation Instructions (https://www.manualowl.com/m/Sharp/R1874/Manual/53709)
appear to show a duct configuration that is identical to the one in the instructions for the R-1851 that came with the coach documentation. I'll know for sure when I open the box next week.

When Steve replaced our Sharp with an Advantium, we had this exact issue. He had to re-engineer the ducting where it came into the cabinetry. The Advantium also had a different mounting plate and required cabinet reinforcement.
Replacing with another Sharp would likely be the best option if you don't want to get that involved.
Agree. We have an Advantium in the house but I didn't want to take on that install in the coach.

Your floor plan in a 2000 (no slides) usually puts the door of the microwave close to the wall. You need a microwave with a door offset slightly away from the wall. The original Sharp 1850 is offset. Many other brands have the door right at the edge and the wall interferes with the door opening. If you still have the Sharp installed look at the door where it pivots you will see what others have run into when buying new.
Elliott, I can't remember what model I had in before. I have to think it was the same as yours. The model I put in was a perfect match for both the venting and the existing mounting plate. As stated earlier, it also has the offset door.
It was pretty easy to install. Bev seems to really like both the microwave and convection features.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed but getting meaningful information out of the Sharp support desk is like pulling teeth. I attached a pic of mine incase it jogs your memory :D We don't have a proper oven so the convection feature is a must have
Mine is the same only white.

The Sharp zero clearance door worked fine as my replacement. It also has a front or top vent. I did install the new back plate that came with it. There was a screw going into the microwave in the upper cabinet that isn't easy to find. After I found that it came right out. If you need exact info, send me a message and I;ll get you exact numbers, Lowes was the cheapest
Looks like our Sharp R1850, is that a broken piece on left side, ours broke there as well.
Yup, it's toast. Other parts of the plastic face are being held in by duct tape. She's on her last legs cosmetically
If it still works, have you looked to see if you can get replacement parts for the trim?
The boss lady has said we'll be replacing it with stainless steel and made it very clear we won't be discussing otherwise
The last digit of a Sharp model number will be the finish. White, black, stainless... If the first 3 numbers are the same then they are basically the same oven, just in different finishes/door bezel appearance.
Elliot, I am pretty sure that yours is the same as my old one except mine was white. I have attached a couple of PDF's that may help. The pictures sure look to me like you should be fine. It worked out just fine for me, the venting lined up perfect.
Also, not sure if you have a price yet, but here is where I got mine $489, free shipping.

Elliott, found an old picture, I think your good.
Thanks Mark, I think you've given me enough here to be willing to order it. I'm in my 4th go-around with Sharp support and thinking it'll be quicker to buy it and return it if needed than get an answer from them.
You guys are awesome ^.^d
Elliott, we replaced ours with a Samsung convection from Lowe's it vents in the front not under cabinet. I had to drill a hole for cord on opposite side of cabinet
Chris
We have the exact same microwave as Chris does. Fits with using the old attachment plate that is already on the wall for the Sharp. You don't need an offset door, as any microwave works fine. Now, if you have to vent to outside, that is much more work, but you could make any micro work for you!
Thanks guys. We boondock a lot so I really want to have the vent be able to move air up and out of the coach on hot days. I also have a proclivity for burning things on the stove. I ordered the R1881LSY last night
I'm about to post a new topic in Renovations on my Sharp Install.

Any update on this? How did it fit? I have the original 1850A as well and would like to upgrade it, it takes forever to cook potatoes. Mine is backwards of your Elliot, its on the DS but the door opens against the wall.
Mine ended up fitting perfectly and I suspect, but can't confirm, that most
Samsungs Sharps will. I ended up just taking a chance on it because support at
Samsung Sharp wasn't very helpful.
Apart from some slight cosmetic differences, I don't think the one I put in there is any different from the one that it replaced. The technology has not changed from what I can tell and the keypad interface is almost identical. It's basically just New chrome and plastic.
Samsung or Sharp? OEM was Sharp and the model number (R1881LSY) you mentioned ordering is a Sharp.
Ugh. The other S company, Sharp. Just getting home from a margarita happy hour. Thanks Michelle
