Decided a while back to replace the 2 lower guide rollers that locate the side plates on door. The old ones were quite worn and I had rotated them a few times to catch the arms and there was still a bit of play on them and door rattles some.
My Brother had a couple made in their machine shop so I did not need to shop around.
If someone wants to make some they are 1 3/4" dia x 1 7/8" long with a 1/2" hole
Johnh
On our coach the generator door uses the same rollers as the engine hatch. You can swap them out for a short term fix. Generator door is much lighter and gets used less often. Replacements at FOT were expensive. Hard rubber sort of things.
For a really short term fix, you can rotate them a little bit and wrap them with electrical tape.... It's a cheap fix too.
I did a few rotations like I mentioned.
I decided to leave the gen door ones alone as wanted them all good. The material I priced at $20 cndn for a meter but only 2"in stock here so would have had to get them turned down but Geoff had stock at work and had them mailed to me.
A meter would have made about 18 pces, so cost each around a buck US before making
Johnh
John, is that nylon or Teflon material?
Just curious if y'all think acrylic would work. I have a source I could get some round stock and turn it down to size. It's the stuff they make duck calls and other game calls out of.
Rick. UHMW it is a type of vinyl /nylon /Acetal but good for rollers etc as it stands up to wear better.
Johnh
Could it be a urethane material?
John,
Could be the beginning of a new cottage industry-- kind of like 6 pack OH kits!

When I looked at the photo in the initial post, the word Delrin popped into my head. Popular material for "performance" suspension bushings.

Now I have an excuse to clean the dust off the lathe. Haven't had any use for it since retiring.
If you don't have a lathe, or a brother with a lathe, there are online sellers who will make custom Delrin "bushings" to order. For instance:

I ordered this exact part number yesterday after seeing John's post. My engine door bushings are quite worn. I should receive it today.
Ordered at 4pm yesterday from McMaster-Carr. Arrived at 10am today. Can't complain about that. This was nowhere near the top of my list of things to do but looks like a quick little project.
Bruce , Let us know how this works out. I may order some to fix mine. Thanks
Mark
Those pieces look good. Use the chop saw at 1 7/8" long then drill a 1/2" hole on centre. The outside dia may be a bit oversize so check that it will fit into the bracket on back of door as you may have to reduce it a bit. Those stock plastics are usually a touch oversize.
JohnH
Or pm me and have the stock sent to me I'll cut and drill and ship them back to you. Just pay for shipping back.
Scott
Dsd, that is a nice neighbourly thing to do. I also would do it but the mail from and too Canada is so slow right now that a person would be waiting for months to get them
I cannot cross the border till it opens so cannot access my mail box in Washington State for faster service.
Johnh
Thanks for the offer Scott. I'll chuck them up on my wood lathe to drill and touch up any diameter adjustment. It should be sufficient for the precision necessary on these pieces. Hopefully I'll get time this evening to try it out.
My shop and additional equipment I have in storage is primarily for woodworking. I've always had some interest in having metal working capabilities but I'm limited to basic chop/bandsaw/drill/Mig welding.
I figured you had it figured out. Still a open invitation if some one needs a little help. Not a problem
Scott
The material from Mcmaster-Carr worked out well. One stick made 6 bushings and it turns out that my generator door setup does not use a similar setup. I'll hold on to my 2nd full stick of material for another project but I have 2 extra sets. If you need a set and don't have the means to make them yourself, send me PM and I'll mail a set to the first 2 requesters.
How much did FT Parts quote that was so high that it was worth going to all this work? When I replaced mine I bought a spare, which I wouldn't have done if they were horribly expensive.
The 2 sets are spoken for.
Really glad this little project had so many tweets.
Johnh
It has been a few years but FOT wanted $25 a piece.
Mark
Just an update. I was in Mexico when this topic was discussed, and couldn't take advantage of dsd's offer.
I just ordered some material to send to him, and there may be extra.
Very nice of him to do this for us. Thanks, Scott
I need a set. Mine are totally gone
Offer still stands. Glen said there would be extra material being sent to me. If you will pay him ill make up and ship to you. Think I recall usps small box works.
Scott
Please....
no need to repay me
Good karma
I get a lot of it from this Forum
enjoy
I could use a pair.....Glen/Scott
Thx
Hans
Hans sent you a pm. Not a problem
Glenn, Scott,
I could use a pair and would be happy to help cover costs for both of you. Just let me know if still available. If not, I may order up a stick and turn on my wood lathe if needed.
Thank you, Mark
I am another that would like a pair! PM me and let me know the details!
Peter
I would like a pair also. Will they fit on the generator door also? I need a couple for that door also. I will be glad to pay for the parts,
Thanks
Ron
Mark the stock from McMaster Carr does not have to be turned, just cut and drilled. 1 piece will make 6 rollers. Scott cut a stick for me earlier this year. If your going to have Scott cut/drill it you may want to have it shipped to him then he can ship it to you in a small priority mail box, 6 pieces will fit in 1 box.
Keith
Once we figure out how much stock we need I will order additional stock as needed. I would prefer to make them all up at once rather than six different runs. Not a problem. Each coach will need 4 each so I should have enough stock coming for three coach sets. Thank you Glenn. I'll order additional four feet (six coach sets) and based on what Glenn said it sounds like $17 a set shipped to your address
Scott
Please pm me if you have interest in a set.
Closer
Scott,
I would like a set. I think I just need two for my bottom latches on the engine door. My generator door does not use them.
Rich
rollin
Curious what's different on your gen door, Rich. Mine has em and they are hard and a little loose, and I get a rattle in the front end on rough roads.
They need replacing.
Woody
Scott, Glenn.........Thanks you. It's guys like you that make this Forum so great.
Appreciate it. Hopefully someday, I can do something for everyone.
My generator door has 4 latches with the lock actuators, similar to the top latches on the engine compartment door.
Rich
I have enough on hand for 2 more coaches (4 each). Glad to make some as well.
I am looking for two for my coach. If you could pm me I would certainly get the process going!
Peter
Update. Everyone that has paid with PayPal should of received a tracking number. If you haven't contact me. I was going to order four more feet but will wait till next week to order. I still have ten extra rollers awaiting checks or payment to arrive ready to ship. Will ship and order more as soon as I receive payments. Takes two days to receive stock after paying for it so isn't a problem getting more of it.
Scott
Scott, Thank you !!!!
Above and beyond. Appreciate everything you have done for us.
Again, it's what makes this Forum GREAT.
So I think I have all the checks for the last order. Two sets for Canada, looks like original $17 for four plus an additional 24$ for shipping. $41. Just hate seeing our neighbors get jacked for shipping but didn't find anything cheaper than mail. Not my field of experience by any means.
If anyone would like a set this will be last call for the 4 rollers for $17 or two rollers for $12.50 including shipping. I plan to order tonight to get them done by mid week.
Scott
I just sent 4 to Woody, I have 4 left. Same price, $17 including shipping.
Maybe Roger could toss them across the border??
So I finished the third run on rollers. I am waiting on several checks to show up that have been promised but not received yet. Everyone but Tom should have a tracking number. Yours is available but I've exceeded my allowable hourly PM limit. I'll send it to you later. If you have paid and do not have a tracking number please PM and we will get resolved. USPS may take longer than they promise. Please use provided tracking number to track. I will provide replacements if they have become lost. It's literally taken longer to ship than make. Lol.
Scott
I received mine, thanks so much for making these available!
So we have ran into a problem with Hans rollers they are smaller in size? He said about 1" in diameter but if someone could measure I'll get the right size cut up and shipped out. We are getting out of here next week and I really would prefer to get the correct size going his way. Any help is very appreciated . Need width, length, and hole size if possible
Thanks Scott
So was PM'd size
Diameter 1.25"
Hole .50"
Length 1.54"
In the works
Got mine, thanks Scott.
Guys,
STRONG suggestion:
PM (i.e. click on "Send Message") on Scott's post.
That way you can provide him with your contact/mailing address IN PRIVATE.
Brett/moderator
Yes I agree 100% I reviewed post and didn't see that anyone had? But I still agree strongly 100%
I am also out of stock and am leaving town Friday for a couple weeks and will be home for a couple weeks before we leave again. There's two rollers available threw Hans. If some wants them I'm sure he would send to you for $15 and send me the remaining change after shipping costs. Please PM if you would like to be in the next run of rollers. New cost is $15 for 2 or $20 for 4. PayPal gets almost immediately shipping when available checks are fine but I've been holding order till check in hand. Since there is no profit the little cost overruns easily put me in the red on these. Also please verify your size. I guess some of the 300s had 1.25" diameter rollers? Only had one set that way but prefer to get the right ones. I have no clue what goes were.
Brett thanks for bringing this up👍
Scott
So I do have a set of four and a set of two rollers that need homes. They were purchase for coaches that have the 1 1/4 rollers and cannot be used rather than return back to me and additional cost of shipping they can be purchased direct from there current home and owner for $15 for two or 20$ for four. I will help get everybodies information swapped if that is okay with everyone
Scott. PM me direct please
Nice to see how my posting took life due to the generosity of other members.
Well done guys.
Johnh
Picking up where
@dsd left off ... kind of
I needed to replace the bushings on our coach, so ordered 2 bars of stock from mcmaster carr.
Those two bars yielded (12) 1-7/8" bushings with a 0.5" hole, I was expecting some dead loss during the fabrication but ended up with no problems. These will not be to dsd's manufacturing standards but should get 'er done.
I have
(8) (4) (0) of these remaining, free plus the price of shipping. PM me if you want some.
ETA:
All gone !
"All gone !"
Dang it! Missed again :(
Quantity not Quality. I still need to make some more if I ever get caught up on other things. Grinding a cut off and corner tool saved some steps. Cuts like butter.
