Looking at my Foretravel manual. No mention about needing a pressure regulator on the fresh water hookup. Since mine is plumbed with PEX I assume it can withstand pressures simulator to a stick built house. The problem is some campgrounds have very high pressure. likely higher than any City water supply.
Does every one use a pressure regulator? I am surprised this was not mentioned in the manual.
Can't speak for "everyone", but we certainly do use a pressure regulator when on shore water. The exception is when filling the tank.
We always used one with the FT and continue to do so with the LTV.
Like Brett and Michelle said, we always use one.
Isn't there a factory pressure regulator? I know my '81 has one and assumed my '99 did too.
There was a pressure regulator behind the city hookup on our 1997. I removed it. I'm pretty certain FT's have them built in.
You can take the 2 screws out of city hookup, and pull it straight out to see if you have one. It will be screwed onto the back of the fill connection.
Common for them to get clogged and plug up. Have replaced a few

I just recently removed the factory regulator because of a leaking faucet washer... so now I have an external adjustable regulator.
Question is what pressure should I set it at ?? Safely that is. I have it at 40 now but that seems noticeably less than what the onboard water pump does
We've always carried/used a Valterra model like shown in the link below...set for about 50 psi. Lots of them that look identical are for sale online under different names and for different prices. Which one is best? Don't ask me...
I picked 50 psi cuz our Shurflo 4008 water pump supposedly puts out max (shut-off) pressure of 55 psi, but I have never measured it.

This is what we are using. Hope it last forever,, not cheap.
Always use one even when filling the tank.
I always keep the pressure under 40
This is the one we use. High flow. Fixed Regulators (https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/fixed-regulators)
If mine has a built in regulator I have not found it. It is a 2006 nimbus. I have been using one like I used on the travel trailer. My well is limited to 50 psi so I hooked it up when filling the tank without the regulator. Took 1/2 the time to fill the tank.
That got me wondering. I need to get a better pressure regulator because mine is too restrictive. Some RV parks and state parks can approach 100 PSI.
Never used a water pressure regulator. Always ran of the internal tank and water pump even when hooked up in a campground.

I use a pressure regulator and a particulate filter (at least) hooking up to any water source. The filter helps keep all the fine bits of sand, rust and other stuff in the water out of your coach. Even if you are just filling the tank your plumping is subject to whatever pressure the source provides without a pressure regulator. Easy to do, protects your coach.
X2 on filter. I have one on quick release fittings, lay it in the bay, anytime city water is hooked up.
I also use the adjustable one set at 50 psi (internal one removed). One park we stay at in Parker Az. is 75-80 psi, until you turn the water on, then drops to 40 psi. It is a gravity system.

I have stayed at parks where water pressure is north of 140psi. I've also stayed at some where it fluctuates, so what you get when you're hooking up might not be what the max pressure is.
I use this one: Amazon.com: Renator M11-0660R Water Pressure Regulator Valve. Brass Lead-free... (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N7JZTYX/)
and have one of these (which can't fail) as a backup: Amazon.com: Camco (40055) RV Brass Inline Water Pressure Regulator- Helps... (https://www.amazon.com/Camco-Pressure-Regulator-High-Pressure-40055/dp/B003BZD08U)

The one I have is an FAMCP34. It looks like it comes with a 155 micron screen but you can get them as low as 50. Under $20. This has 3/4 pipe threads. They have all of the fitting you need to go to hose fittings on each end.
Thank you guys. I am finishing sanitizing my fresh water tank. Then I will change my fresh water filter and see how it is. I might have to upgrade my pressure regulator. Particulate filter is not a bad Idea either.
The tagline filter I mentioned above has a valve on the bottom of the filter case to flush the filter. In addition unscrew the filter case and it is a perfect place to add a disinfectant of your choice. It gets your fill hose as well without having to try to pour the disinfectant down the end of the hose.
