Title: OEM Electrical Reel Will Not Hold any Ratchet Stop Posi tion with me.
Post by: TulsaTrent on March 07, 2021, 09:44:36 pm
This year will make my Foretravel ownership over seven years. We are currently in our fourth month at Fun and Sun RV park, in San Benito, TX. We were without power for over three days. On the third day, I backed up about 100' to hook to a site that did have power. I disconnected the Electric, Water, and Sewer. I backed up and only hooked up the electric.

When I started pulling the 50-amp cord out, I noticed that it would not stop at ANY intermittent ratchet positions. Fortunately, I did have my friendly filter wrench handy and was able to use it. I was able to jam the handle into the business end of the roller assembly. The next day, we got our power restored and rolled forward a 100' and reconnected.

The ratchet reel is still not working properly. Any ideas on why it stopped? Any suggestions on a more permanent fix than my inexpensive filter wrench handle?

Thanks for any assistance or advice,

Trent

Mine does that every once in a while. Give it a whack with a rubber hammer, the little pawls stick.  When it doesn't work I have a wedge made from a piece of 2x4 that wedges between the rollers and cable to hold it in place.

Sometimes just needs a shot of lube in the correct spot.  See thread linked below:
