I finally found the air leak. Both Norgren valves are leaking so next week I will go to a seal shop and buy the seal and the o rings and rebuild them. I googled the part # for them but nothing comes up with that # but I found ones that look exactly like the ones on
my coach with the last letters different then mine.
Sometimes you have to improvise. Those Norgren type valves are commonly used in many manufacturing plants to control machinery. They usually have a diagram printed on each valve that explains the air flow through the valve. If you can find another valve that has the same diagram as your OEM valve, then it will probably work. Or not.
I have replaced a couple valves of that type on our coach. I usually have good luck finding something that will work by doing a methodical search on eBay. There is a company called Origa that makes similar valves.

Then again, sometimes trial and error is the only path to finding a replacement part for our aging coaches.
Chuck on further looking at the valve that I found by googling the part # it was a 120 volt valve and that may have been the only
difference. I think a couple of new O rings and a seal they will be as good as new.
Old Guy, They can be overhauled but the over haul won't last vary long. We used a lot of them in industry and figured out it wasn't worth the time and effort to overhaul, we just replaced the valves. I just replaces one on the step cover and bought another for step. If you seen me to PM me and I can check in coach as to where I got them.
Chris
I bought mine from FT last summer. Mounted a little different than original but not an issue.I have a part number in the coach but I just closed the shop and will get it tomorrow if needed.
Hopefully they will last long enough for the borders to open up. Most companies ship with UPS and and they are a screw up when
shipped over the border.
I went out an check to air gauges this morning and after 36 hours there is still 80 lbs. air pressure left. I have been looking for that air leak since I got the coach home. I never had squirted the exhaust ports of the norgren valve so never had found the leak. I'm a happy camper.
Chris I can see why overhauling won't work unless I could buy the spool shaft as I just noticed to day it is rubberized so it acts like an O ring.
FYI, our step air valves came apart, easy to clean and have been working just like new after an hour or so of work. Can't hurt to try. Our coaches are light users of these valves and they get dirty over time, and not likely to wear out with our level of usage.
Mine are shot, air is buy passing through the spool. I need to find out where to get them and the new part # as the part # I that are
on them doesn't bring anything up.
What is the part number on your old valve?

Finally got new Norgren Valves installed and set up. The only problem is when the door closes the step come up. So I need to
figger out why. The reason I went into this was the step when driving would go up and down and when I was wiring in the new
plug I found a wire was broken where it screws into the plug so it was making contact and loosing contact and finding the air
leak was a bonus.
If the ignition signal goes to the valve it will put the step up when the door is closed.
The step is going up when the ignition is off. The switch I put in to work to keep the step up when the key is off when I switch it
with the door open will close the step so something is wrong somewhere.
When I was hooking up the plug I shorted the 2 wires together so I don't know if I did something to the system so it thinks the
key is on. I know when I hooked everything up that the magnetic switch was not working and luckily I had a spare.
Well today I found the problem. It was the new magnetic switch I installed. It is wired wrong. Where it says normally open, is
normally closed and where it says normally closed is normally open. I changed it to normally open and it works. I will pick up a
new switch that is wired right internally. I pulled the old one apart and I burnt it out when I shorted the wires at then Norgren
Valve.
Chris,
I overhauled my Norgren valves recently and as you warned, the overhaul did not last. Did you check and could you post where you got your replaceents?
Thanks,
Richard
I got new valves through a Norgren distributer and after I got them a friend told me I could of got a valve locally.
He said that that type of valve is common and I probably would have got something that would work for about
1/4 of the price.
Thanks, Looked it up at the sight I bought them, and it says page not found.
Chris
We have not replaced our Norgren valve with a new one in the last 10 years. Our last slow operating outside step was fixed by taking the Norgren apart cleaning and putting back in service. That was a year ago and it still works fine.
Actually, I am a believer that our repairs do work as the valve is very simple inside. Just need to adjust the valve's exhaust ports. Most problems are caused by a sluggish piston inside the valve. A little cleaning and lubrication seems to give it new life
FYI on the subject of the step slide:
Because the step slide solenoid is a pain to change and not a critical device, we figured that the step slide piston does not need to maintain air pressure to keep it open or closed. Just needs air pressure to move in one direction or the other. So we installed a 12v actuated 3-way pneumatic valve on that Norgren's input air line, with a new inside switch. New-Switch on, move step slide in or out, new-switch off, move in-out switch off.
I am still trying to track down an air leak. I replaced the front most pressure regulator on the step and while checking for air leaks, noticed every time the step opens or closes, one of the Norgen's exhaust valves releases air, but the other doesn't. What is the correct behavior? From reading above, it looks like the exhaust valve should not release air every time the step raises or lowers. Correct?
Assuming this is correct, how does one fix this? Can I just get a new exhaust valve and screw it in or does the entire assembly need to be replaced?
The valve that is operated will exhaust the pressure being released in the air cylinder. That is the only way for the air to get out. When the valve is exhausting without the cylinder being operated the valve is leaking.
