Title: Water filter install
Post by: Ldillow on March 17, 2021, 11:29:32 am
Having trouble reinstalling filter.
It looks like it has a double lock.
So I turn the big collar clockwise, push filter in and turn clockwise.
Once turned to the stop, then turn collar to the left until stop and then drop down lock arm.

Problem is I can push the filter in and turn to right, but I can't get the collar to turn left to lock. Akward location and position to work on it.
May have to pull the mount put so I can see it better.

Any ideas, thought about rubbing something on the filter to lube it.

The
Larry

Are you talking about the water filter that's under the sink? I don't remember having any troubles replacing the filter on that one other than access which is why I did away with that filter in the first place. But you can use a silicone based lubricant made for water if you want. I put in a whole coach filter system in my passenger side with a and now everything is filtered.

I changed ours when I installed the new inverter control panel and was running wires in the area. I too had trouble as it's in a difficult spot. I took the shelf out and then it suddenly installed instantly. Keep trying. Having a bright work light on it helps.

K-Y Jelly might be appropriate.

Just kidding.  Hope I don't O-fend anyone.

I remember the last time I changed our under-sink filter I also had a hard time getting it seated and locked.  Trouble is, I don't remember exactly what I did to finally make it work.  Probably just kept messing with it...

Did the new filter come with any helpful instructions?  In English?

I futzed with ours for a while before I read the instructions on the side of the filter. Then it of course went right in.

You might check for a blockage up in the housing too. When we bought our coach there was a partially exploded canister installed and it resulted in a crusty mineral-like build-up in that area.

The first time I went to replace the filter I had a hard time getting it to lock in, then it would leak a few drips every now and then, bought another filter and it was the same story. Replaced the whole mount and the filter issue was resolved!

The "threads" on the filter gall easily.  A light plumber's lube works for me.

Once it is in, be sure to test it with a container under it.  I put mine in prior to a trip, was in a hurry and forgot to test.  When we got to our destination I did the hook ups and immediately went out to socialize.  We came back and found water in the cabinet, under the cabinet and carpet.
Fortunately, we always travel with the Bissel mini shampooer/water vac, a powerful hairdryer and the 2"x12" metal safety blocks and were able to deal with it.  It ruined the night though.  You just can't forget to do anything!
