Title: Another solar install
Post by: rbark on March 26, 2021, 08:47:24 pm
Well, took me way longer than I had expected but the job is finally finished.
Let me start off by saying I couldn't have done this project without the help of Roger ( home2fromhastings ) floridarandy and the other members here that have posted their experience and knowledge on how to go about installing solar.
I bought all my equipment from Bay Marine Supply ( thank you Justin  for your support and guidance) except for the solar panels which were from HiTech. I added 4 new 200w panels to the 2 I already had for a total of 1200 watts all ran in parallel to a fused junction box in the PS bay. That's also where the MPPT controller, BMV-712 shunt and batteries reside, along with the safety devices for the system. In the electronics bay I replaced the PROsine 2.5 with the new Victron multiplus 3000/120  and added new pos and neg buss bars for better cable management. I also changed all cabling to 4 ought except from the multiplus to busses which are 2 ought x2. I'm using my 3 Lifeline 8Ds as they are not quite 4 years old yet. We will see how things work out as time goes by and we get back on the road again. I will say, the hardest part of this job was re installing the cover for all the wires/ hoses in the overhead. I don't think there's room for one more cable up there. I hope my pictures speak for themselves.
Forgot, the Cerbo GX 50 is mounted under the sink and the Cerbo touch 50 is mounted on the front of the sink counter along with the BMV monitor.

Nice job, Richard.  I like tidy. 👍👍These are projects that are made more possible when we help each other, glad to have been some help.

Ha! Roger, you were more than just "some". But you are right! If we didn't have people like you and others on this site, that post their projects and give support to those of us that are somewhat out of their comfort zone, that's what it's all about!
