Title: Thought my 6 pack was leaking
Post by: bigdog on May 07, 2021, 05:40:08 pm
Lately my air pressure drops very, very quickly after parking. Figured the 6 pack was leaking. But under full pressure ZERO air bubbles anywhere on the 6 pack.

Turns out that it is the SPS Valve that sends brake application pressure to the front brake cans was leaking through the exhaust port. Now I just hope this is a common enough part that I don't have to wait months for a new one.

It is a common valve, I even carry a spare that I had in my crane.

That's good news. The shop that is working on it were thrown off by the ABS connector on top and it being  rather dirty (can't see a part#) and thought it could be a specialist part to the coach. Once they remove the part. I'm sure they will figure it out.

I'm just thankful it wasn't the 6 pack leaking from corrosion. I'm sure those manifolds are hard to get anymore should a new one be required.

They are not hard to get...HWH will sell them to you...but they are kinda pricey.  So yes, you did dodge a $$ bullet.

That's good. I thought they were in low or slow supply because of Covid and the age of our system.

I contacted both MoT as well as FoT asking about the 6 pack and they never responded to my emails or phone calls. Even HWH hasn't bothered to call me back after contacting them a week ago. I was put on a callback list and was supposed to only be a two day wait.😬

That could be true - I don't know.  I've never tried to order anything from them.

I said they will sell them...didn't say how fast they would/could ship them.  Supply and manufacturing situation will hopefully improve as companies slowly return to pre-Covid staffing levels.

HWH has always had a spotty record on returning calls, so no surprise there.

Got the leak fixed. The offending Haldex ABS valve is Part #AL364040, Which is the current replacement number for the OEM #364141112 MSRP $430. My shop was great and sold it to me for cost.  ^.^d

Also installed a new starter motor. Wow! What a difference. The starter motor now actually spins the engine over quite briskly instead of acting as if it's being powered by nearly dead batteries even when the batteries are fully charged.

The coach has been sitting for hours and has lost just a small fraction of pressure than it was before the new valve. Normally my air tanks were empty in less than 30 minutes and my engine compressor was on quite a bit.
