Title: Dash Voltmeter Replacement
Post by: Bill B on May 14, 2021, 10:48:01 pm
Want to replace my 12 volt VDO dash gauge due to inaccurate reading so ordered a new one.  It came in today and I thought, unplug light, unplug supply voltage, spin off back, remove gauge and reverse procedure for installing the new one.  But it wasn't that easy!  I could not figure out how to separate the outside finished panel from the inside panel to install the gauge.  And didn't want to start experimenting and damage something.
So has anyone replaced any of the dash gauges and remember the procedure?  If so I would gladly accept any and all instruction or help of any kind.  Without clear instruction, will probably let the pro's do it.
My coach is a 2000 u320.  Thanks in advance!

There are nuts with large area washers you can easily see the 2 at the top right and left behind the panel look for the others at the bottom.

Thanks Craneman!  Wasn't quite as simple as it sounded, but got me pointed in the right direction to find the nuts that were not visible.  Replaced the 12 volt gauge, now have accurate measurement.  Old gauge was reading about 1 volt low.
Also changed out the 400 degree trans temp gauge with a 300 degree gauge.  It is a little easier to see the normal trans temp at a glance than the 400 degree one.  Numbers not so cramped up on left side.  Another project finished!  Thanks again for your help!!
