I'm changing the air filter in my 93 GV- is there anything I need to know about this? I seem to recall something about the gaskets but I can't find the post. I don't know what I don't know. I appreciate and welcome any advice. Also getting ready to change oil, filters, and belts. Tried to digest all I can from previous posts, but I'm such a newb here, I can't help feeling a little intimidated by all there is to maintain this. Heading to NAC in a week for the GV reunion so I'm trying to be as road ready as I can. This group is amazing and the 2 rallies I've attended, I have met the most wonderful people. TIA for any help. Michael
Just wait and change the filter there. You'll have lots of help
What brand/part number air filter did you buy?
The direction of engine intake air flow on your (and my) coach is IN the big open end of the filter, OUT through the sides of the filter into the metal filter canister, and then on toward the turbo charger.
This is important to know because the filter must have a rubber gasket on BOTH ends to be properly sealed in the air filter canister. Some filters come with both gaskets already stuck to the filter, and others with one or more gaskets loose in the box. There may or may not be a new gasket for the canister lid.
Also, while the filter canister is empty, check the operation of the "Filter Minder" restriction gauge (suck on the rubber tube - see if it moves into the red). (photo below)
Changing the filter is not hard. Pull the old one out, use a damp rag to wipe out any dust and dirt you find inside the canister, and install the new filter.
