Title: ABS light is on, won’t shift out of neutral
Post by: Steve Gubser on May 21, 2021, 01:34:43 am
Hi , my 1998 U295 is stopped at a fueling station and now will not get out of neutral.  I VW he'd the ABS error codes and it's 07.  Box says  "system OK, all sensors no output , drive above 6mph and bars will appear if sensors ok"

This is not much help, as trans will not shift out of neutral.

Cummins 8.3 with 3060 Allison with retarder.

Retarder indicator light was possibly not lighting up before stopping for fuel. ( I don't think it was, but not sure)

I'm trying to check the fuses etc for ABS and retarder, but I'm not familiar with what I am assuming are these fuses located behind panel at entry door right.

Please help, hosed in Houston.

Thanks. Steve Gubser

Steve,

Is the "D" in the Allison shift pad flashing?

Have you tried to check  for DIAGNOSTIC CODES using the Allison shift pad?

Assume you have verified 12+ VDC "out" of the ignition solenoid.

My abs system was once interfering with the Alison shifting.  After much discussion by more than one one shop, James T at Foretravel said to " just unplug it if you think it's causing problems". "Only thing that will happen is ABS will stop taking to the Alison".
I did and it did.  No more issues.  I later removed the system, cause it's obsolete ( no parts).
