Title: Transfer switch location
Post by: sgwynn on May 28, 2021, 01:08:43 pm
Coach is 1990 GrandVilla 36.  Neither shore power nor genset power are reaching the system.  Power is available at the shorepower inlet, and I assume ( I know ) the genset is working.  It was fine during last power outage.

My analysis tells me that I may have a transfer switch fault, but I don't know where it is.  Not under bed, not under bedroom furnace.  Any of you old guys know where to look next?

Easy on the "old guys." I've got elder abuse on speed dial.

Our 1993 36' has the switch under the bed but there might have been changes since yours.

Pierce :-)

Thanks Pierce.  Is it abuse if it is a sign of respect, and it gets results.
Not finding transfer switch yet, but have found mouse chewed romex and a piece of blackened insulation.
Looks like a bigger project.  Thanks four your quick response.

Quick Forum search turned up a post from 14 years ago (Reply #6) which contained the following sentence:

"I think in my 1990, my ATS was in the battery compartment, on top..."

electrical outlets (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=4253.msg16787#msg16787)

Found it.  Under floor of long closet (left side).  Thanks for your guidance.  Now, I'm hoping there's only one.

There should be a schematic on the inside of the lid.
