Title: Aqua-Hot operation
Post by: Dan & Annie on May 31, 2021, 10:08:48 am
This is our first time with the coach in cooler temperatures (Colorado high country for two weeks, temps 35 degrees overnight.) Had the Aqua-Hot system serviced right before we left Florida a couple of weeks ago.

Question 1: Should shore power A/C be adequate to keep the coach warm overnight, or do I need to have the diesel burner fired up instead (or in addition?)

Question 2:
We did not have enough hot water for a shower mid-day yesterday, so I switched over to diesel to heat the water. The diesel burner would not come on. The only way I could get the diesel to fire up is if I switched the Duo-Therm thermostat on and asked it to heat the coach. Is this normal? If so, how would I get hot water in the summer, when I don't need coach heat?

Question 3: This is now the next day. Had the diesel burner on all night for heat, and now in the morning we can't get 5 minutes of hot water for a shower. What's going on?

Dan, I would give Rudy a call on this, as he is the aqua hot guru!  We run our electric and diesel both at the same time on that question.  Will your AH fire or go into default?  Light out?  If AH is on, you should have hot water!  I will bow to Rudy for the rest!

Rudy's number:  seven one three- eight one eight-three two three four!

Morning Dan,  You do need to call me 7 one 3  8 one 8  3234.

The 5000 BTU electric element will heat the coach only down to about 50 maybe 45 degrees.  Below that , ADD the diesel burner to meet the demand for heat.  Plus,  the electric is not rated to provide showers, add the diesel burner when showering.  Plus, the electric element will not heat and provide showers, not enough capacity for the demand.

How high are you?  Up high, the air shutter needs to be fully open, I can tell you how to do that.  But if thin air has caused the burner to smoke, you will need to service the burner to get proper operation.

My phone is on from 8 to 8 central time, 7 to 7 mountain time.  Talk to you then.
