I am trying to get together all my parts for a complete cooling system service.
Using my engine number on Cummins quick serve it shows 1 thermostat, not 2 as some of the older engines have. I also have an ISC service manual, but in that manual is shows that there are two in a housing under the vertical water outlet at the top of engine. The water outlet area of my engine appears different than in the manual.....mine has a 90 deg outlet and where it connects does not appear to be as big as the 2 stat setup almost like only 1 Stat is below the 90 deg pipe...the thermostats in that manual also appears much different than the ONE on CQS. CQS also does not show any sort of gasket or Oring in the area of the thermostat. A bit confused with all the varying information. Trying to make sure i need 1 or 2 stats, and what gasket or Oring goes with it?
Can anyone out there with the similar setup elaborate on exactly what is the setup for an 01 8.3 isc?
thanks for any input.
If Quickserv per your engine number says one that's what you have. On my 99 ISC it's located right under the top hose. Easy to change.
Bruce,
Yep Quickserve only shows one. and was hoping that the location is as you explain,as yes that would be quite simple. But, do you happen to know is there a Gasket or Oring that goes in that same area? should be some sort of sealing device in that area, but nothing on quickserve shows such. I have ordered the Thermostat and have it in hand, but there was no gasket or Oring that came with it.
Thanks, Mike
