Title: 1994 Grandvilla U280 Tail Light Assembly
Post by: Tom and Jo on June 24, 2021, 10:12:56 pm
We went through the hail storm west of San Antonio, Tx April 28, 2021.
The amber part of the drivers side tail light was broken out.
We are looking for the tail light assembly.
Tom has been searching online and hasn't been able to find it.
Would anyone happen to know where we could find one? And what
it's replaced with.  He's been looking for a 83 to 87 Isuzu Impulse.

If you know of another replacement for the tail light assembly let me know.

Jo,

You are looking for the correct item.  AFAIK there are zero modern reproduction replacements for this tail light unit.  Foretravel didn't do us (current) GV owners any favor by sourcing the original tail light assemblies from a Japanese made car that was imported in low numbers to the USA.  Why didn't they use a commonly available Ford or GM unit like they did in later coach models?  But that is water under the bridge...  :headwall:

Your best bet is a intensive online search of import car recycling yards.  See post linked below for the applicable part number:

IMPORTANT:  To replace the LEFT side (driver) tail light assembly on your coach, you must find a RIGHT side (passenger) tail light off the donor car.

If there is a Pick-N-Pull close to you, check their website for the model you need. Prices are super cheap but you have to remove any needed items items yourself.

Well it took 2 months but Tom found one. There was a guy in Washington state that had an old Holden that came from Austria.
It needs a little resealing but it will work.

Actually, Holden, a GM affiliate is Australian.

Saw many of them on our trip to Australia in 2019.  Naturally, we requested and got a vehicle with appropriate name:  OUTBACK.  Good for a little under 7,000KM.

I have a set that I found on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market (https://www.car-part.com/) if anyone else needs help finding them.  I have a spare set that I stuck away for a rainy day, but if any forum members need one or both and can't find another source, hit me up.
