Do you know where I can source two hydraulic cooling motors for a 2000 U320 4010?
I am in need of two hydraulic fan motors:
- P36584 – Fan Motor #1 with Ther Valve - P36584 B5511-00865183 1 EA MOTOR, HYD. FAN W/THERMO VALVE - Saur Sundstrand 551101142183
- P36583 – Fan Motor #2 - P36583 B12121-00800 1 EA MOTOR, HYDRAULIC FAN SYSTEM
* I cut and pasted a few numbers from this forum, so they may not match.
Apparently Saur-Sundstrand, Danfoss and Dynamatic are all related somehow through takeovers and acquisitions. Referencing the current manufacturer name is a challenge.
Brad at Foretravel has been great at ordering all the other parts and has them ready for shipping. He was fully expecting the fan motors to arrive from the factory a month ago.
I feel bad having to pester him every two weeks. Brad has been very patient and helpful. I even sent him some of the manufacture numbers found here for cross-reference. Unfortunately, he had no actual parts to look at for confirmation.
I have reached out to Blake at MOT just in case they had any in stock. Nope. He referred me back to Brad at Foretravel.
As per this forum, I have put in calls to Danfoss Turolla in Ames, IA, a division of Danfoss (515) 239-6677 and to Berendsen Fluid Power (800) 722-4975
Pulling up a nationwide search and a search on this forum pulls up Advanced Fluid Systems in Lawrenceville, GA (770) 963-6164. They do not have it, but were willing to inquire to Danfoss.
Backstory:
I am approximately 900-1000 miles away from the coach. I bought this coach (sight-unseen) in Illinois at the beginning of last April for an outstanding price knowing that the cooling system is not working (the fan specifically). It took another two weeks to get it towed to a Cummins shop 125 miles away.
I thought a fan motor would be a quick fix.
It took until the beginning of May for the shop to even look at the coach. They do not want to rebuild the hydraulic fan motor or remove it for rebuilding. It needs a new radiator too.
As of June 1st, not one part was ordered, so I did the order directly from Brad at Foretravel. The Motorcade 10-percent discount was a nice perk. Brad has all the parts ready to ship to the Cummins shop except for the two motors. Brad ordered these motors long before I called and was expecting them in a weeks time.
It is now one month later and Brad is still waiting on the fan motors and has no ETA. I am not his only customer that needs them either.
I am far away from the motorhome and can't get to the parts for numbers.
If you have read this far, you are probably in the same boat right now. Hopefully some shop has them in inventory. Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry to hear of your issues. I do not have any solutions but, would say I think you are having the same issue that I'm having. Getting parts. COVID has slowed the whole parts distribution system.
I likewise have been waiting 6 weeks to get my hydraulic pump seals fixed. I think you are doing all you can. Just have to continue to make some kind phone calls to keep your parts order on their mind.
Usually the only problem is the motors need seals. Those motors were hard to get before Covid. There was a post on where to buy the motors and the price and part numbers. Take time to do some searching. Maybe the original poster is still around and will chime in. Several of us have resealed them I did mine over 5 years ago. Visone might sell you a pair but they sell as is so might not put you in a better spot than you are in. The original poster I referred to posted the part numbers and the place to buy them along with the price. He also said both motors were the same with the exception the valve. Hind sight is always 20/20 but you should have had it transported to a repair familiar with Foretravels
I would sure contact a local hydraulic shop-- likely some around, as lots of hydraulics on farm equipment. Certainly the way to go if they are just leaking and need sealing. Even if worn, should be able to put them back together and functioning enough to last you long enough to get home.
Pulling them really isn't that difficult.
Hi all. I neglected to mention that the fan is seized, so a rebuild might not be the in cards.
I did get a call from Gordon Holmes at Advanced Fluid Systems in GA. He went above and beyond to contact the manufacturer in the UK. The number 551101142183 did produce a hit and they would be able to build one. They would really like to get a picture of the part and so would I.
The price of $888.71 seemed a bit low, so I am wondering if this is Motor #2 (without the valve). He can get it built and sent to the shop in under two weeks.
The Cummins shop is an approved Foretravel shop and the mechanic has been to Foretravel for business before, so I was hoping that would be an advantage. What I really need is some good pics of both motors.
I attached a picture from another post, but it would probably not be what they need..
That looks like the price the post that listed prices and numbers showed for the one without the valve. But the motors are the same and reusing the original valve is what he did.
Here is the thread on my pump rebuild. I believe that there is some information there to help you.

Thanks Chuck,
I re-read your post again. Lots of good info there.
Bob
I feel like I am getting closer. I got pictures of the fan motors from the mechanic.
The part number was as I had expected: 551101142183.
This the same part number for both motors, but the valve appears only on one motor.
Hopefully this is enough info for the distributor to get both motors.
Bob, sent you a PM
