I had my Bose Lifestyle refurbished last year and it worked great until now. It is only playing on the Right side and also a very low volume on the center channel. The left side is dead. So it's time to replace it with something new.
I only use it for the TV and to play music from my phone.
I did mount a small soundbar a couple years ago to use when dry camping but the sound isn't great so I will either replace it with a better soundbar or a new system to replace the Bose. Mounting a bigger soundbar will be fairly easy, but if I get one with a subwoofer is it possible to use the existing wires to the Bose sub? Or just go with a wireless sub?
I'm not wanting to spend more than $500
Any suggestions? Is it possible to use the old Bose speakers? Or will I be better off pulling them out and using a better soundbar?
I'm not an audiophile, clear dialogue while watching a movie is most important.
The Bose Acoustimass module is proprietary (it's more than a subwoofer as well).
I believe the Bose speakers require the Acoustimass module, so you'll want to replace the entire kit and it's kaboodle.
Here is an option.

Consider an Echo Studio, we have one, great sound. That is sufficient for TV. Get two for stereo and a subwoofer for a complete home theater setup. Our Samsung TV connects with bluetooth. So do my Echo Buds. You can also use an optical cable.
And if you want you can use Alexa,

Or something else.
I decided to buy a Samsung soundbar with wireless sub. It'll be a few weeks before I can get it in and installed but I plan to pull out as much of the Bose stuff that I can. I'll have the receiver, subwoofer, and probably all five speakers if anybody needs any parts. Not sure if I will be able to pull out the connecting wires, probably just leave them in place in case.
PM me if anybody needs anything and we'll work something out.
Happy Independence Day!
I have a Bose Soundbar that is worse than the TV. And a Sony that is much better. Echo Studio sounds great in the coach for TV, music and all else.
Bose receiver is spoken for.
