Title: Hydraulic pump rebuild kit
Post by: John hobbs on July 07, 2021, 08:01:02 am
I tried to have my hydraulic pump locally rebuilt. They had a hard time sourcing the parts. I have the J.S. Barnes hydraulic pump (W9A2-1800118). I can get a rebuild kit from the manufacturer, but I need to order a minimum quantity of 5.

Anyone with this pump want to have a spare rebuild kit on hand? If interested, comment or PM me. I can provide this kit for $100 shipped.

Below is what the pump looks like:

What's The Part number of the seal kit?

I had mine rebuilt a few years back and got one seal kit for my 1995 u-300

These are my notes from back then

The  source for this kit (in the USA) is through Womack in Dallas/Houston (713-956-6400.)
The kit number 5000101 is $59.20 w/2 weeks lead time.

Not sure if its still available but its a lead

Good Luck and let me know.

Andrew

That is the seal kit number. I called Foretravel and they had 1 kit left. I was priced around $140 with shipping. Price gouging I thought since just 1 kit left.

Foretravel used different pumps for different models. My '94 pump leaked worse when I got it back with a new seal. I was told by Foretravel that the pump I had was not rebuildable. So I bought a different one. FWIW.

Thanks for the input.
The kit is for the internals just not the front shaft seal. I had the shop button it up and just put in the front shaft seal. They said they could rebuild it if the had the kit. It also took a second shaft seal to get it right, they told me it had a slight drip with the first seal. Second seal worked, ran it on the machine no leaks.

I was just trying to be proactive and have an extra seal kit just in case, I was stuck somewhere with no parts. With the supply and lead time I thought it might be worth having an extra kit. I'm a sucker for buying a lot of what if parts. Just don't want to have issues and no solutions hundreds of miles away from home.

I did get the part number for the shaft seal only, from the shop who replaced the seal. If know one else is concerned about their pump maybe I should not worry about it. But if others are wanting a rebuild kit I can order some and send out to those who want them. 4 kits available.

I believe these pumps were used on 1994? and up. Used when Foretravel used two different systems, one for the steering and the other for the hydraulic fans. I enclosed a picture of the pumps used from my owners manual

Part number of just shaft seal:

Reviving an old thread as I am working on this exact pump on my 95 U295. Concentric who makes the pump and seal kit does not have stock of either but confirmed that the seal kit is actually used in many pumps and should be available to get still within a couple weeks. The pump on the other hand has not been sold to any of their distributors in so long that they show no record of a sale. He said they could make the pump again but it will require a min order of 25-100 pumps! Ouch!

Seal kit #5000101 is for the W9A2 pump (two stage pump)
Seal kit #5000100 is for the same pump in a single stage so if you can find this in stock somewhere you might have at least the outer seal, not all the parts to rebuild it though.

Womack did not have in stock and does not have selling rights in MN so I had to call my local distr.

My local distributor in MN (Innotek Corp 763.488.9910) is working on getting a quote and lead time for me for the seal kit, 5000101.

EDIT: I found the 500100 kit on ebay for $50. I ordered it just to have in case. I also ordered just the seals from another site. I am hoping with all this stuff I can get the pump to stop leaking :) The attached pic is of the contents of the 500100 kit. I also ordered some seals 20X30X7-R2LS32-S from an online supplier.

EDIT #2 - Swapped just the shaft seal using the 20X30X7-R2LS32-S seal and took it on a 300 mile trip and no leaks! Check that one off the list :)
