Installed a new water pump as the old one quit. It was also cycling too, so there is a leak somewhere? I think it could be the fresh water fill check valve. One of the clues was while filling the fresh water tank; I turned on the pump and it ran continuously.
Should it have stopped cycling if the check valve was operating as designed? Thank you for your help.
If the fill valve is leaking, the tank would fill with water without opening it. While it is open to fill the tank, yes the pump will continuously run while on.
John,
Our coach has a manual 1/4 turn fill valve under the bathroom sink. We open the valve to fill our water tank (using the water hose) - close it when we're done.
On our coach, if the fill valve is accidentally left open after filling and the water pump is turned "ON" the pump will run continuously and never build pressure. This is because the water is being pumped in a closed loop - out of the tank, through the pump, and back into the tank. Same thing will happen (for the same reason) if the pump is turned on while we are filling the tank...pump will run continuously.
I don't know if your fresh water fill system operates in the same way.
the 98 270 works the same way as chucks
Is it possible that the fresh water fill valve under the bathroom sink is defective? The pump cycles about every 5 minutes.
Has anyone changed the valve under the sink?
Is there a way to trouble shoot the fresh water fill valve? Thank you John
Yes. Like I said. If the valve leaks, the tank will fill with water without opening it. Just stay hooked up to city water and watch the level. If it goes up, change the valve. I had to replace mine.
Twig thank you. Did you get the valve from FT? And how difficult to change? John
The valve under the sink was leaking in my coach.
I removed it and changed to a direct fill!
Works great!
Got it at Home Depot and installed with Sharkbite fittings. Easy. Get a pipe cutter you use like pliers.
