Has anyone replaced the mostly unreliable ZJP DEE AUTO AWNING with a manual Zip Dee ? I just cannot trust my auto awning to open, and if it opens will it close.
I know Carol and Jeff Savournin and txforetravel did.
We did it last year on the coach. The "auto awning" never once worked for us... I tried diagnosing it several times, Jimmy at Zip Dee is very helpful. However, after talking to several others that changed thier auto awn, we bit the bullet.
You can order the manual awning kit from Zip Dee, they will send it to you or a tech to replace. Or, as we did, we drove to the Chicago suburb where they are located and had a dealer install it. It works GREAT! Adds significant outdoor space and comfort. Make sure you get the kit with the arms that attach at the lower end, not the top, (old style).

There is a lot to be said about manual awnings. We are on our 6th coach with manual zip-dees. As long as my body is able- they work as designed.
So is it a special kit that is designed to replace various parts of the Auto Awning or is it a just a whole new manual awning?
