Only thing I can say to 3000 CCA is DUDE!
OK, my logic. The three 31 series have more CCA than the three 24 OEM series Foretravel installs in a U300. They are larger so a rack had to be made for the new length. The set of 24s I purchased when we bought it in '08 lasted until last year and only one was bad. New 31 series cost less than the 24 series for some reason. My out the door was a little over $300 with a 10% discount for purchasing 3 from Autozone. In Sacramento, a seller has new Interstate 31 series batteries for $85 no tax. I just noticed another seller for $60/each. Seems like a slam dunk deal to me.
A good 31 series should weigh about 60 lbs. The heavier a battery is, the better it is all things equal.
Looking forward to installing our propane engine heater so I can start quickly at alttude, winter or both. Detroits have no heated screen and the non block heater in an absolutely useless place for cold weather.

Pierce,
I don't have 3000 CCA or series 31 batteries.
I do have 3 Optima Blue tops D34M with 2250 CCA total. Expensive but never had a problem. I'll probably go with Series 31 next time!

My c8,3 had two red tops initially but I bought it with two brand new Interstates. I always crossed my fingers on a warm start. Turned out one of the bats was bad. Replaced this fall with three Marine start batteries from OReilly. Totally worth re working the cables. It now cranks strong in 17 to 100 degrees, even after running up over the passes in Colorado today with pickup being towed along. I stayed with original form factor but took advantage of the "extra space" in my battery tray for a third battery. A little extra start capacity is a good thing in my book.
And just when I thought I had the CCA (actually 2850), I noticed NEW Northstar deep cycle AGM in Sacramento for $222 (list $430). 1150 CCA, 900 cycles at 50% discharge, advertised 2X AGM lifespan. Cheaper if you buy four. Amazon.com: NorthStar Ultra High Performance Group 31 AGM Battery: Automotive (https://www.amazon.com/NorthStar-Ultra-Performance-Group-Battery/dp/B00P1K6EPE) Four would be enough for house batteries.
