Title: Xantrex inverter/charger remote cord replacement
Post by: dans96u295ft on July 29, 2021, 09:33:29 am
I need to pull a new 6 conductor phone cord into the old Heart 2500 remote panel location from the new Xantrex 3000. Anyone done this? Any tips would be helpful
Thanks

Is there an existing old cord you can use as a fish line?

If so, perhaps use it first to pull more than adequate length of strong string, then attach new data cord to string and keep pulling.

Thinking string first to reduce bulk and test theory.  Wrap any connectors well with smooth electrical tape so there are no "sharp corners" that could snag on the journey.

Yes, I'll see if the existing cord will pull out freely. I'm a retired phone guy so pulled lots of wire over the years. I imagine it's not free floating but you never know! Thanks

They make an adaptor to use the phone line. Juicesqueezer is using it without problems

Craneman the adapter won't work with the Pro3000 only the older series. I called Xantrex this morning. It needs a full 6 conductor cord but thanks

You won't be able to pull a 6 conductor phone line with the plugs on but theybare easy to attach with an inexpensive crimping tool.  Look closely at the new cable, likely that the plug on on end has the rib on the flat cable up and on the other end down relative to the plugs.

You may just have to come up through the floor into a cabinet space and then up to the overheads if that is where you controller is going and then through the bottoms and walls of the cabinets.  See the picture, mine was tough, do it once.

If you are going to the effort add two 6 conductor phone lines, a USB cable and one or two pairs of 12v wires.  The duplex paired wires are easirr to run than single wires. Use 12 or 14 ga so they are big enough for what you might need.
