While that instrument works for speed, the digital readout from the odometer is blank. Pushing on the black knob does nothing. Those that have replaced this , have you used the same manufacturer?
Mine also does not work for the miles on the speedo or the hours on the tach. Someone will surly pipe in about getting it rebuilt. Personally, I went with one of Rogers VMSpec kits for all my engine management data.
I might do that, also- Rogers creation. But I have been bleeding cash on this renovation. I might need a breather, first

I looked around for a new one when mine went totally dead. Got new one from FOT Was easy to replace. I did search on this forum and found what I was to set the pulse count to. After setting went out and tested. Worked perfect and was perfect speed with gps.
Pierce had a write up about a gps speedo which I think is great. Plug n play. And cheap.
I used this guy in Atlanta. Great work, fair price and quick turn around.

Getting ready for another trip in a couple of weeks so will do a review of how it does in a forest, etc. Also, how easy it is to reset the trip ODO and changing from auto reset to recording trip ODO. It requires raising the dashtop to push the button on the back of the speedo as it's sealed so no water or dust can get inside.

I just had MOT install a new speedo, works perfectly, and added a new label below with the old mileage.
There are VDO dealers who can get you an OE replacement and set the mileage to whatever you want.
Been long enough ago that I would check with VDO for what dealer has your model in stock who can set mileage.
I took all the Euro car speedos to the VDO dealer where they changed faces, changed gears and converted the Km to miles for the ODO. They can do anything. As I recall, it was a three day turnaround.
