Title: replace dash warning buzzer for nicer sounding chime?
Post by: Larry Rubin on August 18, 2021, 11:06:23 am
I have covered the dash warning buzzer to reduce the volume but I'd like to replace it with something that sounds a little less annoying.

Any ideas on what to use?
Have newer coaches used something nicer sounding?

My research so far only shows replacement piezo buzzers and larger door bell chimes.

I put a switch on mine to turn it off. But leave it on when driving. I left mine loud, but disconnected turn signals from it, and added 2 muffled quiet ones for those (takes 2).
My cat would go nuts when 1st starting, and airing up.

Chris: I also put on a switch.  How do you disconnect just the turn signals and what did you add?

Chuck and Jeannie: any of the Floyd products you might suggest?

Chuck
Where they attach to the dashboard lower control at the bottom, removed them from the plug (wire diagrams shows you the numbers). Took black felt and blacked out dash indicators.(couldn't see them anyway).
Then added two green LEDS on the side panel, and hooked dingers to those highly muffled. I can see them much better, and the tone is low enough to hear, when stopped at a light.

Sorry, I have no knowledge of their products.  I just pulled that company from a Google search for "pleasant sounding warning buzzer".  It looked to me like they offered a wide variety of different noise makers to choose from.  Plus, they claim all their alarms are Made in the USA!

I just kept taping mine with electrical tape until the sound was muffled enough to be quaint!

This was something on my list. The buzzer is terribly annoying when turning. Mine makes random patterned noised too. Never just an even beep. Most the time when turning it makes a beeep, be-be, beeep. I love the mod with the LED too because whoever decided to put the indicators right behind the steering wheel was not thinking straight that day.

Same here. Mine was on loud when the lights were on.... Now I can't hear it.
