It looks like the glue for the mirrors expires after 17 years.
Has anyone had this happened to them? Need recommendation on glue to use and mirror replacement.
FT does not have a spare vanity mirror. I'll be looking for a local glass company to cut me a custom 12 3/8" X 17 5/8" X 1/4" (W x H x D) mirror.
Any box store should have glue made specifically for mirrors (won't take the silvering off).
Maybe wait seven years?
I think it broke because of my past 7 years.
Good tip. I'll check mine for looseness. Thanks
I'd like to remove a mirror in our bath, only reflects what nobody wants to see.
Any ideas on how to make that happen?
Probably held on with either double sided tape or some sort of flexible adhesive on the outer corners. I have many times use 50lb test fishing line to remove similar situations. cut a piece a few feet long, put a loop in both ends that you can hold on to, if you choose to use your hands dont use a slip knot, as this job will become quite uncomfortable (Bowline or similar knot preferred) Or get 2 small pieces of wood to create a handle for each end as the line will bite into skin if you get too aggressive. then put the line behind the glass and using a light sawing action cut through whatever is back there. Suggest using something like Duct tape to temp hold the mirror to what its mounted too otherwise when you loosen the last few spots it will fall of the wall.
this method also works great for removing body side molding on vehicles when a sectino comes loose and you wish to apply new adhesive. A small spool of 50lb fishing line is cheap and you will find many uses for it through the years.
Using the same "Saw" action, find some piano wire or guitar string.
.025 safety wire. Stretch 5% before starting to straighten and harden. Works well

Thanks!
I'll use the same process to remove the mirror behind the stovetop.
Replace it with a nice backsplash.
Fortunately we don't have mirrors on the ceiling of the bedroom, if we did I WOULD replace them with funhouse
mirrors as someone here suggested. :o
When I pulled off the mirror behind what I call the coffee bar I had a hell of time getting it off. Wish I had known about the fishing line trick then. Mine was held on buy some seriously sticky double-sided tape. There was also some construction adhesive as well. I took the mirror off and replace it with a backsplash looks better now.
agree, piano or guitar string would do better and be less apt to break....But, ,every town has a walmart with a sporting good dept. I'd have to drive 100 miles round trip to find a music source, unless amazon....any thing filament/cable types would work.
