Title: Aqua hot exhaust pipe
Post by: Peter on August 20, 2021, 09:02:04 pm
I was wondering why the AH was so loud and that we could smell the faint smell of diesel sitting out side. I then noticed there was a break in the pie just before the right angle pipe that exits on the drivers side.  Is there a FT part that can replace this or has anyone fashioned there own pipe?  If so can you advise the size?  I notice there is heat wrap pipe wrap around it as well. Is this necessary?

I just pulled mine off and had a muffler shop bend me a new pipe. It's 1 1/2  inch size. Not hard to get off just be sure and put your stands in before you crawl under the coach. If you aren't able to take it off any muffler shop that has room to get it in in their parking lot can fix it. Not sure if FT has them but would be more costly and hard to ship. You can get the heat wrap at an autoparts store. If you don't use the heat wrap it will scorch your fiberglass, pipe gets very hot.

Thanks!!

That makes way to much sense. Lol. I will put it on safety stands and take it to a muffler shop.

I think I've heard Rudy mention replacing it with a 2" pipe and use a straight out tip not an angled down... call Rudy to confirm that...

When I rebuilt my AH I had a muffler shop rebuild a new SS 2". Cost less than $100 and took about 5 minutes to install. I could have but didn't put in a new muffler. Didn't make much difference with the sound. Ordered a new chrome tip and it looked like it came from the factory.

That's what he told me to do. So I replaced with a straight 2" and put a bend in. I welded to the street ell 1 1/4 [as i recall] pipe coming out of the aqua hot and just screwed the entire assembly in after I had it rapped. So it is louder without the muffler but acceptable. Also purchased a chrome tip that looks nice, at least I think it does. Should probably put one one the generator so they would match, maybe down the road. Goes straight out. Having the exhaust pointing down were we live and use the coach just blows the dust up. Did the same on the exhaust on the engine, straight out 👍👍
