Title: Mud flap
Post by: Dub on August 24, 2021, 09:54:50 am
Went to FT last week and got the hardware and finally got it bolted on last night. Dread bending it but it will do until then.

Looks great, how much was it?
How much for the stainless piece alone? I have the flap already but it does not have a stainless piece like that.

Thanks... $238.00 after 10% discount taken off and tax added. That gets the logo and the stainless bolts washers and lock nuts. I drove there because it's close enough and shipping would add $100.00.

Exactly what I would like to do to my coach. Mine is bent up and the rubber is a bit warped. I am going to have to research this as being in Canada the shipping would be expensive.  Also love the taillights! How are they and are they hard to install? Led bulbs?

Lights are plug and play, come without bulbs so you can use what you wish, will take a little digging but I have the part number and discription. On line thru Amazon. Seems like $170.00 or so but don't hold me to that as it's been awhile. Will add that the rubber surround won't fit as snug as original but close enough.

Dub.  A couple of small eye bolts and a bungee will hold it up when your coach is doing the auto level thing.
I keep my bungee in the bag with my towing stuff. When I unhook the jeep I bungee up the Flap.      More than once I have come back after settling in to see the old flap all scrunched up under the coach.
Never even gave the new flap a chance to.

Hey Bob did you get the flap and the logo from FT?
Future planning of course, our original "UNIHOME" flap is pretty beat up but still 100% functional.

We got a flap and the stainless piece from FT as well. I used bigger connections to the hangers after the first ones wore out. And I added 8 more SS bolts through the name plate and rubber to keep it flatter as well as the eyebolts for bungee cord solution.  The first one lasted 15 years, maybe this one will last longer.  The old one is hanging in the barn just in case.

Shipping cost as much as the rubber and stainless piece.

Yes. It's a Foretravel part Phranko.  I also doubled up on the stainless bolts holding the mud flat itself and doubled the the bolts holding the logo on  ALONG with aluminum strap on the backside of the stainless logo and flap mount.
I was shooting for bullet proof.

Thanks Bob.. That's something that needs to be remembered EVERY time before leveling.

Mine came off when I exited the storage yard.  The exit to the street was not flat and it scraped the flap and it fell off.  I found it when I was leaving the yard in my Jeep.  Brought it back and looked how it was attached.  There was angle iron across the back underneath, and it looked like the flap was riveted to the angle iron.  I made 4 holes in the top of the flap and pushed a bolt through them.  Then I got 4 small pieces of chain and ran them over the angle iron and attached them to the bolts.  Now if the rear end gets lower to the ground, the flap will adjust without fear of it breaking off again.

Good you found it unscathed, The flap is a pricey addition by the time it's dolled up and it leads a rough life. It is the hardest part of the entire rig to wash and shine as there is no easy way to get close to it without lying down.

I'll be leaving my original mud flap in the cabana next to the laundry room at camp FT in March if anyone wants it.  Woody.

Mine broke a mount, there is a thread on there with pics. As a data point, I called a local fab shop I've done business with before and the price for the steel piece alone with engravings was considerably more than FTs price. I'm going to get one from them, just keep forgetting to call.  If someone is coming from Nac to Austin area , LMK

Peter, I have just installed those same taillights.  I did however, drill out the one blank spot on each taillight and installed my blinker lights in each one.  Worked great.  Those lights only have holes for 2 bulbs and normally, we have 3, so reason for the fix.  You will see when  and if you order these.  Dub is spot on with the gaskets, but they work.  I did not install the led's in there, as they are bright enough for us.  Here is the link:

$238.00 after 10% taken off. Comes with stainless nuts bolts and washers, i had the rubber. They sell the rubber but I didn't price it, I had my own. That was last year so could be higher now.
