What are your feelings about installing a Performance Tuner? We have a 2013 IH-45. I have been very happy with the performance however, always want more of a good thing. A repairment sent me a link for the PDI Big Boss Performance. Looks like an easy install to get better performance and effecincey.
Do you recommend a Tuner?
If so, what are your feeling about the PDI Big Boss Performance Tuner or another tuner?
Your transmission is already maxed out. Increasing the torque and or horsepower on an engine is going to shorten it's life and the life of the transmission. Both items are not cheap.
600+ HP why would you want to start messing with it? When you start hotrodding diesels bad things can start happening. You can buy a a hot rod car to play with for less than the Cummins cost if you break it. It's your $$$$ have fun with it.
Which ISX do you have? (FT did a last-time-buy on the 2007-2010 version and they were used at least into 2012)
CM871 ISX is a "delicate" engine

There is a curve showing increased HP vs engine life for many diesels. For some, it's a gradual decrease. The ISX in question is already maxed out and with valve manufacturing problems with their supplier in certain years along with associated problems. It's risky to even think about adding more power. Is a small amount of speed increase on hills worth over $30,000 for any kind of internal failure?
