We very recently purchased a new to us Foretravel 2004 U270 36'. This is our first motorhome. I have been going through everything to check everything for how it functions and fixing small things etc. I noticed a small leak it appears to be transmission fluid (very small leak fluid level ok) but while cleaning the area I found this threaded hole in bottom transmission. It does not appear to have had anything leak from it. I believe this should have a plug or something. Please educate me.
That hole is in the bell housing. Leave it that way. If transmission fluid starts dripping out of there then you need a new front oil seal. Like wise if engine oil starts dripping out the same hole you need a new rear main engine oil seal.
Mike
Correct!
Tom and Michelle,
By the way, welcome to Foretravel ownership and welcome to the ForeForum. It is great to have you and please chime in regularly.

It's called a "Weep Hole" cuz if you find (much) oil dripping out, you'll be
weeping at the prospect of paying for the repair.
Allison trannys are HEAVY. Dropping one to replace a bad seal should not be taken
lightly. :))
Thank you all. The ForeForum has been a valuable resource already. I already have quite a few parts ordered will be installing them as the arrive. I also have a porter cable random orbit polisher on its way.
Congrats on your new purchase. From what I can see it looks like a very clean coach. Unlimited knowledge base by a very diverse group of owners.
Scott
That's what I was thinking. I can't believe how clean the underside of that coach is!
