Title: 12 volt plugs on dash where is the fuse?
Post by: T and M Long on October 15, 2021, 06:00:20 pm
Have 2 12 volt plugs on the dash. The one toward passenger side stopped working, I haven't been able to locate the fuse.

Circuit breaker probably behind the panel in front of the pass seat

Looks like #29 is a start battery powered breaker for one of the two on the dash.  The other two on circuit breaker #44 are house powered for the other dash 12v dash outlet and the one next to the pass seat.

Is that why my plug in gauges read different voltages?

Yes, One is off the house batteries and the other off the cranking batteries.

Roger I really appreciate your quick responses and wiring diagram. I checked the circuit breakers and they checked good. Then I did what I should have started with, I went back to the plug and had hot there but no ground. I then tried to figure out why after un plugging ground wire from plug the wire had ground. I plugged it back on then checked plug again. It worked perfectly evidently the ground was not making good contact with the plug (even though it looked ok). I took the long way around to figure it out. I consider this a learning opportunity.

And that's how my jumper keeps both sets of batteries charged at home when plugged in or anywhere while on solar.

Learning is a good thing.  A good digital multimeter is an essential tool for tracking down electrical issues.  And always start with the most obvious thing first, usually saves some time.
