Title: Newbie looking for help
Post by: philipmw on November 07, 2021, 07:40:01 pm
MY wife and I have been searching for a motorhome for some time now and we had "decided" on a country coach (Affinity or Magna) however after looking at 15 or so we asked around and found several people had traded their CC for Foretravel, so we decide to have a look.  After looking at several we fell in love with a 2007 42' (ism 500) that looks to have been immaculately cared.  Everything we looked at on the coach looked virtually like new including the paint and exterior glass (a huge issue with the the CC's we looked at which made us very discouraged with CC)

Anyway we have made an offer and so far have reached an agreement to purchase this coach and pending an oil sample we look to be first time Foretravel owners.

I would appreciate ANY suggestions on additional items to be "concerned" about.  we are "experienced" Rvers having had everything from travel trailers to a Silver eagle and a Prevost (marathon), most recent was a Renegade race hauler built on 2006 Freightliner platform with a N14 Cummins. (pulled a 3 car stacker trailer)

Since we are first timers with Foretravel, please offer any suggestions of things we should look for or what specific items we should pay special attention to in the maintenance of this coach. (should we go ahead with the purchase)

Thanks in advance!!!

We just recently, 1 month ago, purchased a 2008 Nimbus CE338 and are very happy with our purchase so far. We fell in love with the looks and the quality of the coach. We searched for awhile also to purchase our first diesel pusher and are glad we passed on what we were looking at. We were looking at Winnebago, Forest Rivers, Tiffany, Newmar, etc... and for the price of what we were going to pay for a used coach of other makes just didn't make any sense when we looked at the quality of the builds. Also did a lot of looking onto this forum prior to purchasing. The knowledge and support you will get on issues and problems that arise are second to none here. Or just general questions answered quickly and without judgement, as we are new to this game coming from a fifth wheel.... If you want to know about your specific year coach, enter it in the search bar on the top of the forum page and I'm sure many threads will come up...just remember, all coaches will have issues, these coaches are just better made and worth putting some money into, in my opinion...I'm headed to the factory in Nacogdoches, TX next week to get some work done. This is where to have someone work on your coach that understands it, Motorhomes of Texas is there also, and I hear they are very good on these rigs... good luck and hopefully you will find something that fits your needs and we will see you down the road somewhere... this is a great community....

We (the Forum) really need to solicit membership from more owners of newer model coaches, so we would welcome your participation should you end up with a Foretravel.  We need to add more technical info on the newer models to our accumulated knowledge base, and the way we can do that is by hearing more often from owners of those models.  Best wishes on buying the coach!

Don't know how familiar you are with the Forum resources, so I will provide links to a few of them.  You may find some helpful info or items of interest that will help you become more familiar with the Foretravel way of doing things.

I own a 2013 40' with ISX500 and I owned  a 2007 Nimbus with ISM400. Both excellent coaches. I'm familiar with the newer models and I'm happy to assist. I too looked at CC before buying a FT.

One of the bigger items you should look at is delamination, especially around the slide rooms  - that was the biggest surprise we had.  FOT did the repairs and we are quite pleased with the results.  As others suggested - a trip to Foretravel is worth having them go over everything.  Congrats on your Nimbus - we love ours.
