I was hoping to get some insight on the check engine light from some of you that might have experienced the same thing I did yesterday, the check engine light came on along with the annoying chime during a trip home from Hot Springs, Arkansas was on the road about 3 hrs. and the check engine light came on, I checked all the fluids before getting on the road all of them are on the full mark including the radiator. When the Check Engine Light comes on I noticed the Idle RPM's are 100 RPMs higher than normal, with normal being 700 RPM's and the battery voltage fluctuates .5 volts from 13.5 to 14.0 volt's all the other temperature's and pressures are in the normal range. I planned to start looking at the engine electrical ECM connections and grounds, any other suggestions at what I can look at before taking it in? I can get it to reset by shutting down and re-starting, when turning on the key it will bounce between shutdown engine and check engine, some times it reset's and some times it keeps bouncing back and forth between check engine/shutdown engine. It runs normal even with the check engine light on.
Any thought's?

That's another reason to get a Silverleaf. I needed to read codes awhile back when
my engine wouldn't start and I wondered if the Silverleaf gave codes and it does.
It made finding the problem easier.
I contacted Roger when I knew I was going to get my rig and had it sent to me before I picked it up so I could use it immediately. I already had a windows laptop that I didn't use so the the DIY was perfect for me. Very pleased with it so far. And Roger has a sale in 2 days!

UPDATE ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!
The first attempt to read the engine code was unsuccessful, so I had the code read by a Cummins system that could pull the stored codes, the code was the throttle position sensor located on the throttle pedal, so far after 600 miles (KNOCK ON WOOD) no more check engine light and the annoying chime.
This is one big plus to the VMSpc system in my opinion. I run a tablet sized laptop with that software connected to the coach and can see codes in real time. Very handy. On my last trip, I got the chime and check engine light, and VMSpc showed me that darned "abnormal speed change" code which really means nothing. Cleared it by cycling the key 3 times (or is it 6?) and went on our way.
On My last trip to Whistler I got a code saying intake air temp with some numbers.
The numbers don't correspond with Cummins numbers but it prints out the trouble so that
works for me. That is too trips to Whistler with a sensor failure but at least I knew
what the were and could keep going.
