Title: 1995 U300 carbon monoxide detectors won’t reset after coach batteries going dead
Post by: Rocky1down on November 28, 2021, 08:10:21 am
I posted about our batteries going dead after not plugging in to power right away last week.
We ran the generator with the boost and now all batteries check above 12.
The xantrax is no longer flashing but the amp meter shows a - upside down F I and says low battery in the corner.
The carbon monoxide detectors won't reset and say fault.
Any ideas?

If my batteries get too low the CO chirps until voltage gets back towards full. Can't tell you exactly how full but it stops chirping eventually 🤣

We disconnected each detector and plugged them back in. They stopped chirping and now have green lights.
Stove works and front furnace is blowing warm air.
Only issue now seems to be the gauge showing amps.
The xantrax lights are no longer flashing erratically.
Batteries measured 12.7 and 12.9.

Remove 12v power from detectors. We long ago install small disconnect switches to cut power next to each detector. Nothing like a hard reset with no power to reset these guys.

I also operate in a similar way. I can say it was successful.

If they are original, time to replace the detector

My detector is original from 95, where do you source a replacement?

I bought a battery operated one from Lowes and stuck it on the ceiling with Velcro.

I removed the old one (it was pointed at head height at the bedroom entrance) and used the 12V power lead to build a usb charging cubbyhole for phones and iPads.
