Title: ABS sensor questions
Post by: AC7880 on December 02, 2021, 09:40:52 pm
ABS light is on.  When I checked flash code it was 4-5.

When I had coach serviced at NMHS they checked clearance to the tone ring all positions, and found passenger rear (tag) sensor unplugged with potential damage on connector.  They reconnected and wrapped it up.

ABS light still on, but we had to move on for other appointments versus staying to resolve.

Is there a method to reset the ABS to clear codes?  Does anyone know if the passenger tag is a straight ABS sensor, or a angle ABS sensor?  FOT parts have both in stock.

Anyone changed a tag axle wheel ABS sensor themselves?  Description of doing the job?

VMSPC registers no ABS errors.

If ABS light is on, and if one wheel on tag sensor is not registering, does that mean no abs function from any axle?  Or just on tag?

Does tag wheel have to be removed to replace the ABS sensor?  If so, I am wondering if it is even worth fixing.

Dan,
1. I think you have at least the 3rd or 4th generation Wabco ABS ECM. If so only the tag axle will be affected. To be sure you need to take the cover off the ABS computer and get the serial number then check with Wabco.
2. Yes on the one coach that I have replaced with a tag.
3. On the tag I would say Yes.  Due to loading that axle would lock up a lot sooner than the drive axle. This can cause flat spots on the tire resulting in shaking/bouncing.

20 miles into  a trip today, and ABS light is out.  NMHS reconnecting and wrapping the questionable tag sensor seems to have worked.

We had only traveled a few miles in Nacogdoches until today

Hopefully it will stay working.
