Does anyone have a part number for lift pump and fuel solenoid for a mechanical 8.3 Cummins?
You can get the fuel solenoid at Larry B's. (Fuel Solenoid (https://fostertruck.com/search?type=product&q=%203935649%20Fu*)) Number is: 3935649. Runs $84.

I had a fuel solenoid that would work sometime and not others. It was the pull
in winding that was flaky. When it didn't work I would pull it up by hand with the
key on and away I would go. Next time it would work. It finally quit altogether.
Quick explanation, when leaving Gone Fishing Resort last month after sitting 3 days I had to prime the system to get the motor started and it ran fine the 220 miles home. I've been starting it once a week since then with no problems. Figured it was a piece of trash letting the check valve bleed back. Today is the first time I've driven it to test my cruise repair. Drove 19 miles and it ran strong but the last half mile to get to my place it fell on its face and wouldn't pull more than 10 mph. Pulled it in my shop shut it off waited 5 min and it had full throttle as if nothing wrong. Went ahead and changed fuel filter and it was good. Fuel lines good, no leaks under pressure. Points to one of the 2 parts I mentioned unless I'm missing something. Mechanical 8.3 so pretty straight forward system again unless I'm missing something.
Dub,
It took a while but I think all the part numbers you need are in this post of Chuck's when he was working on his fuel system. give it a look and see.

Thanks Mike.
There is a pressure relief valve on the side of the pump I had to change it when I lost
power. I have also lost power when the brake lights came on, the King Controller will
only give 1/3 throttle. If you can, make sure The Controller is giving full throttle.
I replaced 2 brake light pressure switches today and don't think I'm having a cruise/brake light issue, but what you say is accurate.
I'm with Peter, Dub. It could be the King Control. That is one of the failure symptoms. Easy to check though. It it won't rev up fully, with the engine running, pull the throttle lever manually. If the engine comes to life, my money would be on that damn, cursed King box. Good luck.

Only catch is it may not do it again until who knows when. I'll just have to drive it some more and wait for it to falter again to check that. Keep in mind me saying I had to hand prime it last month to get it to to crank, lost prime. You and Peter may be spot on, not so straight forward as I hoped.
I'm afraid Peter and John stand a strong chance of being right about my issue. Doesn't make sense that turning the key off for a few minutes would allow either lift pump or solenoid on a mechanical engine to suddenly correct itself and run right even temporarily. Starting tomorrow or Monday I'm going to put it in the road and hope it fails relatively soon so I can rule out parts of this.
Cable tie UP the fuel shut off, because a not fully open solenoid will give you the same symptoms. When ready to turn engine off, cut cable tie... It works for some for many months of driving.
Without a visual at the moment of failure you may not be sure your brake lights are not on. We once tried a mirror on the corner of the rear, but ended up with another brake light on front of bed that can be seen from drivers seat. King in limp mode will also not give your full throttle under way, but may feel like it works ok at idle.
I need this to be a bad fuel solenoid instead of Cruise throttle. With holiday's I will never get all parts together and assembled by time for Quartzite and that causes an issue . Been trying to get Karen out there for years and she had finally agreed to close shop and go with me. Terrible timing puts it softly.
Dub,
Two easy tests:
Wire fuel solenoid open to eliminate that as a cause.
Lift the bed. Put a short piece of PVC pipe directly in front of the throttle. Run a string through it that attaches to the throttle.
Go to a lonely stretch of road and pull the throttle to WOT with the string. Yes, if two people, one can drive and the other can pull from the bedroom. Only takes 20 seconds or so to verify that you now do/do not have full throttle. If only one person, run string to front. Anything hangs up-- turn off the ignition and stop and disconnect. Note: some of us have driven hundreds of miles with string throttles. Legal disclaimer-- I do not recommend trying the string method.
Yes, a lot of test driving if required in the coming day's /weeks to find the culprit. Thanks.
Dub,
The current Cummins fuel solenoid includes a revised bracket. Pretty pricey. I got a generic off Amazon but had to use the old linkage eye bolt to make it work. Easy swap since didn't replace bracket.
In reading your post reply #4 it looks that you might have two problems. Once
when you couldn't get it started. The other problem might have started after you
fixed the cruise. Just a thought was fixing the cruise have anything to do with the
no power problem.
I can't be positive Peter . On Saturday I replaced the two brake light pressure switches located in the first drivers side bay below drivers window. Replaced those because the cruise wouldn't disengage when pressing the brake pedal consistently as in most times. The switch's fixed that and the cruise itself works fine. Did fixing that cause another cruise issue? IDK
Going to order lift pump and fuel solenoid today counting on that to resolve the one time occurrence of loss of prime.. Today going to trace down where FT grounded the King Cruise and clean that plus add a second ground where the ground wire for the pressure switches comes out of the King control box plus replace brake light bulbs and check for ground there. Finally will shine up and check start battery connections where the cruise gets its 12 volt power. At that point I've gone my limit because there is no going into the control box circuit board. Used to count on King Cruise for that and Steve did "rebuild" it 3 years ago but that gives me no assurance because things come undone often times before that. Thanks jor and others as well.
Found the throttle position sensor wire either broke or cut happy day you would think. Repaired that and at the same time fastened an additional ground wire to the king box. Went on test drive and throttle and cruise work perfect BUT radiator fan came on immediately when engine was started and stayed on what sounds like high. Also the brake retarder immediately failed to work. None of these issues until reconnecting throttle position sensor. Is this mere coincidence or what. Wondering if extra ground fixed throttle position and reconnecting sensor wire brought on the other issues. I can imagine the retarder but I can't make my mind reach coolant fan. 3 1/2 years and no gremlins for this rig. 89 280 I had for 10 years had none of these similar systems .
I have a cut green wire from factory, remember talking with Steve @ King control years ago to confirm.
The mechanic that worked for me at the time Steve re worked my unit installed it and never mentioned a cut wire but he wouldn't necessarily. Odd that on the schematic it's labeled throttle control sensor wire and not need to be hooked up. Time being this is strange and I'm stumped. Like I've mentioned above I've had 3 years service from the unit and no issue. I can't know if the green and black wire was in place during that time or not.
Hope to see you in Quartzsite! Have stick throttle and cable ready to go... last I heard good friend Francis will be on the stick to Quartzsite. Shifts smoothly to next gear at 2300 rpm without TPS and down shifts normally he reports.
Hope to see you there as well. I can travel as it sits and with cruise but I hope to get this thing straightened out.
I disconnected the green and black wire coming out of King Cruise box that I connected yesterday and now the retarder works. I think the fan was a non issue. Quiet possible the extra ground I installed on the cruise unit yesterday solved the throttle issue. Drove it to Texarkana this morning putting 75 miles total and everything works as it should. Had a lot of help from jor as it seems he learned quiet a lot about king Cruise in his trouble shooting history and shared with me.
