Title: Prolink 9000
Post by: RandallBrink on December 23, 2021, 07:17:34 pm
I am looking for a Prolink 9000 unit. I can't find any with the Detroit Diesel module. Is there any reason not to by diagnostic unit and DDECII module separately?

Thanks!

No, the reader should be under $100 with cartridges for DDEC I, II and II & III. The cartridges should be searched using the site ALL OF CRAIGSLIST or other like sites. Facebook Marketplace is also good. Ebay is another possibility but usually higher price. Names will be MPSI, Kent Moore, Snap-On, Detroit Diesel. These are some of the names you will find on the Detroit DDEC cartridges. Prices will be from under $100 to $400, all for the same thing. Foretravel Detroit cartridges have to say DDEC II on them as that is the version our U300s have.

Nice to buy all together and probably cheaper this way. I looked and found a couple really cheap with Ford, GM, Toyota, Mopar and Detroit DDEC II cartridges all in one case. Cartridges are easy to slip into the back of the reader.

The manual for the cartridges should be online or I have it in PDF format.

Cartridges also available for Cummins, CAT, Volvo, Allison, ABS brakes.

Thanks—I think I found a set on Craigslist. Do I need a separate cartridge for Allison?

It would be nice but you don't need one, the 2 and 3 will work just fine.

Yes, there are cartridges for electronic Allison transmissions. I don't know models so it would take some research. You can retrieve Allison codes under the dash top on the switch labled transmission. Think it's on the left back against the wall.
