Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I think I have a power steering pump tensioner issue, the pump and tensioner pulley seems like they are to close together the correct belt part# 080465 will absolutely not fit it's just to small, the belt I can get to fit is Part# 080471, and it's a extremely tight fit it's only 3/4" longer according to the local Napa store, there's no other belt's in between and the next belt up is way to big, I might just be worrying about nothing, but I only put 23K on the belt and it is toast, I was hoping someone with a U295 2003 ISL 400 could take some picture's and maybe some measurements of your power steering pump tensioner length and pulley's diameter's, I feel like maybe one of the power steering pulley's or something is out of Spec.
Thanks for the help. Mike
If the tension pulley is bouncing it needs to be replaced. I was going through belts every 1000 miles. If the tension is too tight it can tear up the bearings on the other items the belt goes around.
BIG UPDATE!
Well I was sure disappointed after going to FOT and taking the measurements with me of the power steering belt tensioner that was installed a couple of years ago. The diameter of the pulley and the center to center from the mounting bolt hole to the center of the pulley was the same! but I decide to purchase another tensioner from FOT anyways, on a gut feeling something just wasn't in spec;
GUESS WHAT! the clocking pin was about 30 degrees different on a apparently what was a non Cummins replacement part and the new FOT tensioner is now a genuine Cummins part and everything is the way it should be, plenty of room between the power steering pump pulley and the tensioner pulley, and the correct belt part# 080465 fits like it should.
Amazing what the correct part will do for you! I tried to post pictures to so show the dramatic before and after change but it's telling me the file is to big??
I have a question about the power steering belt tensioner. 2006 Numbus 336 ISL 400
While traveling a couple of days ago my wife said she heard a strange noise. She hears better me after years working in a print shop. Competition shooting, hunting ect most of the times without hearing protection. "No one used hearing protection in those days.:
I started looking for a source of a noise. Got to the rear of the coach did not hear any noise at idle but noticed the tensioner pully was moving. About 1/4 inch or less. The other pully on the colling belts "Longer belts" was not moving at all. Got a bar and checked the tension. The power steering tensioner could be moved with 1 finger on my long breakover bar.
The longer belt tensioner had to make a tight grip on the handle to release the tension. The power steering pump has a whole less tension. Is this normal?
I under some movement of the tensioner is acceptable but at some point it becomes unacceptable.? There is a movie comparing the two. Mine is not moving near as much as the one in the movie.
Do I need a new tensioner. They look identical but cold just be how it is mounted and could be normal.
Don't know about a PC but on a Mac, use Preview to reduce the size of the photo. Use Google to search for the same on a PC.

A great option is to make a video and put it on Google Photos. Then go to the video (or photo) and then to the top of the page and click on the icon in the arrow and then in the new window, create a link to post along with your dialogue.
