Title: Replacing AutoCinema device with Kenwood receiver
Post by: T and M Long on January 01, 2022, 04:15:50 pm
OK, we don't like this flip up screen - seems to not be sturdy and just generally drives us mad.  So I, thought we could put the Kenwood receiver there and we'd hook up the tanks to it.  We tried that and it worked.

So,  there is this strange set of two wires which appears to be stuck to the back it the console. There is another just like out stuck beside headlight switch. The one under the tank monitor will be a hair in the way of our fabrication for the Kenwood.  What the hell are these two wires and why would they just be stuck to the back of the metal of the dash?  They don't appear to "go" to anything?

Also, is the metal on the back of the inside of the dash aluminum or stainless or what?

Pictures for reference.  Had to start the new year with a quick project which turns out to be no so quick!

Unless Foretravel has changed it the dash is aluminum and those wires look like they are for your luminescent display. One thing to bear in mind if that is a luminescent dash; you have to be careful in cutting or holing it as you can disable that feature.

We thought this would be so easy.  So, we can't cut that trim from single din to double din?

Here is the Kenwood. So, we can't cut that spot to fit this is what I gather. Any other options since the radio (Kenwood) sits in that. Other whole and is obscured by the steering wheel.  We hate that pop up screen on the other and just though moving the Kenwood was the logical answer.  We don't even care if the tank monitors are on the dash somewhere. They would be located somewhere altogether different for us.

What to do, what to do.....

Another picture is included.

Thanks all!
