Title: Slide Air Leak
Post by: danilaprepeleac on January 14, 2022, 02:43:32 am
after successfully  troubleshooting the slide and was able to open it  went back to the motorhome and the Hwh Compressor was on
the seal looked ok but the compressor looks like been going for a while.
I pulled the 15 amp fuse to stop the compresor from overhearing  or running more than it should and then sprayed some soapy water on to the fittings.
one of those jars that let's the excess pressure once the compresor stops was leaking  see picture.

the set up has 2 clear jars and one with a metal jacket.
off all the fittings only the one with the electric valve at the bottom was leaking above  that valve see picture
do I need to change the jar is there a seal.
I read that the compressor does not only  run to maintain the slide.
what other purpose does it have?

A couple of comments:
1.  The leak should be fixed.  Don't know how the valve is joined to the cylinder.  I'd just take it apart and see.
2.  The leak doesn't look like it is big enough to cause your compressor to run all the time.  You may have an additional issue.
3.  One of the clear cylinders should have desiccant in it to dry the air and that needs to be changed periodically.  Search the site for more info.
4.  I would open the drain on your HWH air tank and see if your have any moisture in the tank.  I did when I first got the coach.  No problem since paying attention and changing the desiccant when needed.
5.  A picture of your entire compressor setup will help with answers.  Others will be by shortly who have your model of coach.

1. Those bowls are notorious for leaking either form the seal where the drain valve is seated or the bowl itself is cracked.  So you will need to dissemble and see which problem you may have.  That drain valve is N/O when it deenergized or said another way the valve is only closed when the compressor is running and power is supplied to the coil on the valve.
2. It supplies air to the level system when setting camping after the main air tanks pressure falls below about 60# when the safety valve closes.
3 with the compressor running all the time you most likely have a bigger leak somewhere.

I noticed the same filter bowl was cracked and leaking on mine last weekend.  Couldn't find one online, but Foretravel had one.  Got it yesterday and will install this weekend.  My crack is in the plastic bowl where the aluminum insert is.

The drain bowl on mine had developed a leak as well.  I was able to remove the existing fiiting which was corroded beyond use, and drill out the bowl and tap to the next larger size (3/8 npt I believe) and I reinstalled it with a reducing bushing.  The bowl is polycarbonate so it machines well if you are careful.  Helps to step up in drill sizes incrementally to prevent the bit from grabbing.

The one with the metal jacket has dessicant beads in it.  You either need to change that dessicant out, or microwave the beads to remove the moisture.

I pour the beads on a paper plate, microwave 2 minutes on high, then check if the color has changed. Microwave 30 seconds more per time until the moisture is removed (color change will tell you when complete).
