Title: Rear Six Pack location?
Post by: Bob_B on January 23, 2022, 01:42:18 pm
I am ready to rebuild my six-packs but can't find them. I searched for an hour underneath and from above. The air lines from the air bags appeared to disappear into the loom above the fuel lines and electrical lines.
So I am ready to tackle the job. I got Tom's kit, the synthetic o-ring lube, the liquid Teflon sealant, the vice grips with the chain, the eight 12" safety stands and all the regular tools.

I looked at all the pictures in the forum, so I know what to look for...but I just can't locate the rear one at all. After spending so much time looking for the rear one, I didn't bother to get under the front to look for it since it is supposedly easier.

Is it possible that my coach just doesn't have it OR that it exists inside the coach behind a panel? Would this be something a Foretravel mechanic has to tackle?

Look over the front of the drive tire at the front beam that the air bags are mounted on, half way across in the middle of the coach, mounted just under the floor.

Pretty sure your coach has them...but NOTHING is impossible when you're talking about Foretravel coaches.

You need to lay on a creeper and roll under the coach (SAFETY STANDS IN PLACE) to really get a good look at them.

Rear 6-pack is where Rudy said - should see it once you are under there.

Front 6-pack will be tucked way up high, between or near the two front air tanks.

Neither of them is really fun to get at/work on with the UniCoach models.  We GV owners get a break on the front one at least.

Good Luck!

I do appreciate it Rudy and Chuck. I'll take another look when I get back the storage unit. If is where you describe, that should be quite a job getting between the axle and bulkhead. Gotta love a challenge.

If you think the rear six pack is a pain to get to, wait until you see where the front one is.

I found it! The rear six-pack is just where you guys said.
I still didn't attempt to find the front. It'll be an adventure for a another day.
It looks like I'll have get coach a lot higher than the height of the safety jacks, so I'll look for some boards for under the tires.
For under the tires, I am not sold on using those Lynx Levelers (the orange Lego blocks) that I have left over from my (much lighter) Winnebago.  They may be rated for 40,000 pounds, but I've had one shatter under my big Foretravel. It could be that they are brittle at 20yrs old.
