Title: Protection valve cut off psi
Post by: Elliott on January 27, 2022, 05:20:50 pm
Can anyone confirm the opening pressure for the protection valves on our brake tanks? I thought it was 80psi but I just pulled one of mine off and it was 70psi.

I believe 60 psi is minimum. have seen many 65 psi. ones on trucks. You just want the pressure to be above the maxi brake pressure.

You want a valve that closes at about 65 psi:
Thanks, this is what I needed. The one that was on there opens at 70 and closes at 65, so I'm going to go with that. Not sure where I got the 80psi from.

Thanks for the quick response guys

I put a new regulator in (among other things) and set it to 80psi. New symptoms have me thinking my issue is a pressure switch. I split it out into a new thread: Pressure switches on front sixbag/bags (https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=43988.new#new)
