Title: Batteries - Mix New With Old?
Post by: Dakota Slim on January 28, 2022, 05:29:20 pm
I know it is not recommended to add new lead acid batteries to a series with older ones.
Is that the case for AGM, Gel or lithium?

I definitely wouldn't mix new with old. Far better to replace all at once!

I have Battle Born lithium and Battle Born says you can add additional batteries within two years of installing the first ones. That may not apply to other brands.

Thanks Dave. I'm thinking of switching to lithium this year and was thinking I might have to do it in phases but after price shopping today I was pleasantly surprised to see 100 AH 12v lithium batteries as low as $287 each.

That's getting close to AGM prices.

I think it's better considering you can use 100% of the AH.
