Title: Shower Enclosure
Post by: Bill B on March 03, 2022, 10:06:15 pm
The shower enclosure in our 2000 4200 CAI needs help.  The coating on the lower portion of the enclosure is flaking off.  It was like that when we purchased the coach a little over a year ago and continues to get worse.  I have had 3 shower enclosure/glass companies look at it and none can help.  Their solution is to replace the entire shower.  The problem...The shower enclosure in the coach is 69 inches high and the standard starts at 72.  I have not been able to locate a manufacturer that will manufacture a shorter one and also have not found a company that will refinish ours.  I don't see why I couldn't order a 72 inch tall one like the one I have and just cut it down and use my glass.  None of the contractors that I have contacted will do that so not sure if I should try.  This shower enclosure was installed by the original owner about 6 or 7 years ago.  One of the main problems is nobody wants to cut or deal with the curved glass.  The company who manufactured our enclosure has since stopped using curved glass.  So I'm hoping someone has ran into this problem before and has solved it.  I'm open to any and all ideas.

You might be able to disassemble, sand blast and have it powder coated. Probably not easy but doable.

I talked to a powder coat company and they thought the thickness of the powder coat would interfere with channels for glass and gaskets.  But maybe could look further.

A marine epoxy could also be used and the channels masked with cord. Hope you find someone to help.

Clean, primary paint, finish paint, repeat each year and enjoy your beautiful coach by driving all over the USA. Just one of those RV issues. Good enough works to keep the mind at peace.
