Our vent fan over the stove has failed, it tries to run, but just can't seem to get going. My wife wants me to "fix" it. I would rather replace it with a Maxx air fan. I took the motor out, but am not sure how to fix it. She seems determined to find another motor even if it's used. Just would like to get perspective/opinions of the group. The Maxx fan seems more efficient from what I've researched, but I'd like to know what the the more experienced have to say.
Type kool o matic into the Forum search box, hit enter. You'll get 6 pages of opinions.
I replaced our bathroom fan with the Maxxair. It moves a tremendous amount more air than the basic fan that used to be in the bathroom, plus it is extremely quiet. I really like the variable speed control too.
You can open a window 3 or 4 inches and with the fan on, you can feel the large volume of air moving through the coach. It makes a nice breeze through the bedroom at night with a window open.
In my opinion, it is well worth the money, and a pretty basic swap out.
Mike : Follow Chucks advice and do the search. Napa Auto Parts has an exact replacement motor. Won't be home for a couple of hours if you don't find it sooner I will look up.
Found it. Napa Auto Parts #655-2378 $64.36
Is pulling the blade off the shaft difficult, do I need a special tool?
Listen to your wife... We think Kool o matic works great in any weather, rain or shine.
I replaced my motor way back in 2015, and of course had the blade off, and remember using allen wrenches.
And then recently did a MaxxAir, and wish I had not wasted the money and time messing with the old unit for too long/years.
Steve, you may need to change the fuse to a 20 amp
Here's the rocker switch.

I'm running the NAPA motor, but if you want to try and save the original:
The fan blades come off the motor shaft with a hex key.
Drill a hole into the bearing area and add a few drops of oil.
The motor doesn't work. You need to remove it to replace it anyway. You need to remove the fan to swap it.
Good luck soldering those wires to the new switch. I added female spade flag connectors and a spacer. The solder peel right off the stove.
