Title: 2001 U320 IFS Tie Rod end part numbers
Post by: dlkj07 on April 11, 2022, 01:40:14 pm
Looking to replace 4 tie rod ends on my IFS, the shop has it now and let me know that Super Steer has the 2 right hand ends but the left hand ends are back ordered.

The part numbers I have are SS28560 (RH), SS28561 (LH). I'm assuming the SS in the part number is Super Steers part number.

I did a quick search on here and didn't see any tie rod part numbers in a past post specifically for the IFS.
I'm also waiting for a call back from Foretravel but I'm in a hurry and trying to get these overnighted so hoping someone on here has experience on this situation.

Any guidance here, as far as where is a good place out here on the west coast to get these quickly and if my part numbers are good... besides Super Steer obviously.

Your best bet is to cross the thread size in a tie rod book.  You should have something like 1.12"-12tpi on the rod end and 7/8"-14tpi on the stud end. (yours will most likely be different)  Once you have these numbers (the size) off what you have then any good front end shop can find a Meritor, Moog, or who ever.  I bet an even acre of red hoggs Supper Steer sources there parts from one or the other Meritor or Moog.

I have had 2 PMs about the thread sizes that I posted in the last reply.  They wanted to know if those are real sizes or something that just came to me out of the air.  So I thought it best to reply here if anyone else had the same thought.
These are real sizes (an example for what he needs to be able to cross) for the Unicoaches I have worked on whether 270, 295, 320 in the 95-2000 years.  Will they fit all coach front ends with a straight axle? Not sure, so the moral of the story is if you have an end go bad and need a replacement make sure you measure your thread pitch before you blindly buy.

Does your invoice happen to have the part numbers for parts installed?
