Title: Wired wood block on side of entry step
Post by: Elliott on April 13, 2022, 07:17:44 pm
Anyone know what this is? There is a red and black wire running into this little wood block. The wood block is screwed to the backside of the entry step. Right in front of the passenger side front tire. There's nothing coming out of it. The wires run up into the dash and then disappear.

Is it a magnetic switch? Step open/closed or screen door open/closed?

Nope, nothing on the corresponding side of the wall from this little wood block. The magnetic switch is on the other side of the steps (see pic)

Found that when I did my step also. I just put it back, couldn't make sense of it so just put it back. Would be curious to find out what it does.

Does your coaches have a temp reading in your Javelina monitor?  If so you just found the temp sensor. Seems like not all the systems had the software loaded in the monitor but the wiring harness were made you as one size fits all. Now remember there has been a lot of water under the bridge sense those were new and the Dr. has burnt up a few brain cells so take it for what it cost.

Yup, I wrapped it in an icepack and watched the temp drop on the Javelina. Good call Mike  ^.^d

Thanks for figuring that out Mike and Elliott. Always wondered where the temp sensor was for the Javelina. Good to know there's more brain cells out there than me.

Wonder where it is located on the GV models?

I've never noticed anything like that when poking around under the nose of our coach.  I'll have to look more closely next time I have the opportunity.  Although, in the case of our coach, since the javelina monitor is long gone the temp sensor is no longer of any use.

Chuck.
Look on the firewall / front bulkhead to the right of the heater/AC control.
